AstraZeneca - Very painful legs

Dottyyy1 · 08/04/2021 22:17

I had the AZ vaccine 9 days ago and I am now experiencing very sore, painful lower legs. I wondered if anyone else had experienced this side effect or should I be worried about a blood clot?
My symptoms immediately following the vaccine were very mild so I am surprised about this leg pain for more than 24 hours. They don’t appear swollen, just very painful as if I have done a lot of exercise...but I definitely have not! Very concerned.

Yep that’s a risk factor for dvt / clots (especially within 2 weeks). Go and speak to your GP asap tomorrow so they can refer you for further tests.

Babyroobs · 08/04/2021 22:27

My legs too have been very painful at night time. I had AZ about 3 weeks ago.

JustPickleRick · 08/04/2021 22:30

I had AZ 9 days ago too but no sore legs. I have had a numb/restless left arm though (the arm that I had the vaccine in) which I'm not too sure if I should be worried about...

boogiebogie · 08/04/2021 22:38

Defo get checked for legs

CarelessSquid07A · 08/04/2021 22:40

I had this and also that feeling like my calfs were going to cramp. Didn't realise at the time that might be a thing for blood clots but am still fine 6 weeks later.

I would probably get it checked just to be sure.

I thought the clots it caused were a rare type in the brain, rather than the more common DVT. Google Homan's test

Having read a case today, about a 34 year old thinking he'd pulled a calf muscle, but turned out to be clots after the vaccine, I suggest you ring 111.

PlantDoctor · 08/04/2021 22:57

I would ring 111 immediately

This needs checking. Have a conversation with a real life medical professional.

I would absolutely call 111 in your position, out of an abundance of caution.

RosaBaby2 · 08/04/2021 23:01

Oh my goodness the day after I had my jab my toes felt strange and crampy, (4 weeks ago) now I'm terrified to get the second one as I'm overweight and 33 years old. Definitely ring 111 and check.

sproutsandparsnips · 08/04/2021 23:02

Is it both legs? This reduces the chance of it being a clot. Muscle and joint pains are a side effect of the vaccines.

Yes, but that’s not a reason not to talk to a real life medical person.
ineedaholidaynow · 08/04/2021 23:04

Think they are advising people to not take aspirin if you don't normally.

Dottyyy1 · 08/04/2021 23:07

The case of that young man is very scary, I’m in my thirties too.

It is both legs which is why I was unsure if it could be a clot or a known general side effect of the vaccine. Deliberating whether to attend A&E.

Purpledaisies yes you are quite right. Sorry if I implied this, it is not what I meant.

Dustyboots · 08/04/2021 23:24

Why do we put so much faith in Science? Why do we let these people inject this stuff into our bodies?

Sorry OP. I hope you are OK and start feeling better. I'm really sorry you're suffering with this.

ineedaholidaynow · 08/04/2021 23:26

@Dustyboots maybe someone who doesn't believe in any medicine is going to be very much help on this thread

Why do anti vaxx posters spout unhelpful crap on thread like this?
Rare side effects are rare. Vaccines will save masses of lives.

Hopefully the op is just experiencing something standard which will be worth it for the protection she’ll have for herself and others.

It needs a real life check out thoughz

None of these reactions are rare though ... so many people are reacting with horrible side effects. Death might be rare. The blood clots might be rare. But horrible side effects clearly are not, judging from friends, family and Mnetters etc

And none of us know what these side effects, such as OP's here, actually are. What is actually going on?

Government and scientists in the UK have denied the whole blood clots thing and made out that Europe is overreacting. What else are they hiding?

Why are you so willing to put blind faith in these people? - @PurpleDaisies
