AstraZeneca - Very painful legs

Dottyyy1 · 08/04/2021 22:17

I had the AZ vaccine 9 days ago and I am now experiencing very sore, painful lower legs. I wondered if anyone else had experienced this side effect or should I be worried about a blood clot?
My symptoms immediately following the vaccine were very mild so I am surprised about this leg pain for more than 24 hours. They don’t appear swollen, just very painful as if I have done a lot of exercise...but I definitely have not! Very concerned.

@penni00 so sorry to hear this. Are you able to get back to normal life at all?

I feel the same way about the vaccine and the health authority. People are not being told the truth

Gothichouse40 · 02/05/2021 01:28

I have had the leg ache and pins and needles down both legs. I had AZ vaccine at end March and still not 100%. Was ill 3 days, seemed to get a little better then, felt worse. Ive had terrible neck ache, stiff neck, and although these other symptoms have eased, I still get headaches and fatigue. I have put all this into a Yellow Card report. The medical authorities need to know what is going on. For me I think the vaccine caused a massive flare up of my auto immune condition. I have sought medical advice and although all is well, I can't help but wonder about when my headaches will finally cease. I did not have a flu jab for years, as I had awful reaction to it too and reported that to Yellow Card scheme. Yet, people who had Pfizer seem to have little to no side effect. My husband got same vaccine as me, hes had little side effects. Even given all that I have been through, I still think having the vaccine was the right decision. I believe I would not have survived Covid-19. It's Hobson's Choice

No, I feel like I have to take everything really slowly and gently, and I can't look at the TV, computer, mobile for very long or out of the window at bright light. I feel depressed that the first dose immunity will wear off and I will be unprotected from Covid plus still prob have these horrible side effects from the vac. If you were allowed, would you consider having a second dose if it were something other than the AZ ? |(I know that there is no option for mixing currently)

penni00 · 02/05/2021 01:40

Gothichouse40
Are you going to have the second dose of AZ?

YukoandHiro · 02/05/2021 01:41

If it's on both sides it's unlikely to be a clot but maybe ring 111 and get checked out

Detox vaccines?! You really have no idea how vaccination works do you. Well good luck with your one jab. My strong advice is to complete the course.

What, after an eye haemorrhage??

Are you a doctor?

It is really concerning that non medical individuals on mumsnet doesn’t think twice before giving out medical advice like the poster above who said finish the course. Really worrying…

It's not just concerning. It's downright dangerous!
VaccineAnxiety · 27/07/2021 15:17

@specialagentoso100 it almost makes me wonder if these are real people or some bots- saying that it’s a pattern in mumsnet
If it’s anything to do with vaccines - eg: I’ve got a pain after the vaccine, or in this case a haemorrhage then the posters are all saying ‘ oh just go for the deboned jab, these things happen!’

At the same time if someone posts saying I’ve got symptoms of what I believe to be heart attack/ stroke should I ring for the an ambulance- then you get posters going ‘oh no don’t bother the nhs- if you are breathing you are fine’

It’s bizarre

And it's just as concerning that the anti vaxx bollocks spouted by some other posters is allowed to stand.
foxandbee · 27/07/2021 16:34

Well as this was back in April, hopefully OP is OK now.

I agree there are bots on MN, but I fear they don't bot for the pro-vaccine side of the argument.

penni00 · 27/07/2021 16:45

I had AZ 19th March and still suffering. There are people like me suffering from side effects for many months, It needs to be acknowledged that this is happening to some people, a small number, and these people may not be able to safely finish the vac
course.

TheSunShinesBrighter · 27/07/2021 16:48

@Goldieloxx

I thought the clots it caused were a rare type in the brain, rather than the more common DVT. Google Homan's test
Yes. Brain and abdomen.
VaccineAnxiety · 27/07/2021 16:49

@penni00 is it worth having a chat to your gp? I know it’s not an easy task to get hold of a gp but if you can afford it going private?

Hopefully a medical professional would be able to do an investigation and put your mind at ease

foxandbee · 27/07/2021 17:18

The "micro blood clots" theory mentioned by all shiny and new posterjelly is being touted by an anti-vax doctor who reckons 62% of people who take the vaccine will die. So I take the claim about the eye issue with a large dose of salt.
penni00 · 27/07/2021 17:58

@VaccineAnxiety.
I have had a private consultation with a neurologist who diagnosed vaccine induced migraine. However, I other side effects in addition to this that remain unexplained.

noraclavicle · 27/07/2021 18:14

I missed this thread back when I had my first AZ. I had leg pain - intermittent stabbing pains in my shin (after getting over the 1-day flu-like symptoms). It was unpleasant, but as I had no other symptoms that indicated DVT I didn’t get it checked out and it went away after a couple of days. Yellow-carded it and went on to have second vaccination as normal. No further problems.

VaccineAnxiety · 27/07/2021 18:50

@penni00 glad you got some answers - as someone mentioned above have you logged this on the yellow card system? The more people logging may lead way to get this noticed?

Having said that they are pretty much ignoring the menstrual issues so who knows?

Did your neurologist say how long the vaccine induced migraines will last? I get migraines as it is, so wondering if it’ll be worse

Tealwarrior · 27/07/2021 18:53

I had Pfizer and was in a lot of pain with random cramps in my lower legs for two days. It was horrible.

Totallydefeated · 27/07/2021 22:18

So I take the claim about the eye issue with a large dose of salt

So you think the poster is lying because an anti-vaxxer has been making mischief about something similar.....?

So let me ask you this: if an anti-vaxxer fixes upon something, does this automatically nullify the accounts and lived experience of anyone who happens to experience something similar?

Does it make their lived experience unbelievable? Automatically untrue?

Are side effects only ‘real’ if they fall into certain categories that anti-vaxxers have never leapt upon?

Totallydefeated · 27/07/2021 22:20

That was to foxandbee

We don’t know the poster is new, given the penchant for frequent name hanging on MN

Totallydefeated · 27/07/2021 22:23

Quite. Dishing out medical advice like this could be incredibly dangerous. The fact it’s pro-vaccine doesn’t make it ok.
