Unable to book second vaccine. Anyone else in same position?

Trying to book my vaccine via the NHS site. I can book the first but it says I'm currently unable to book the second. Has anyone else had this? Did you just book the first one anyway and then book the second at a later date?

I had originally booked both at the same time a few weeks ago but, frustratingly, caught Covid a few days before the first appointment and had to cancel them both.

It wouldn't let me just book the one (I initially had the same problem as you). I spent a whole day and evening refreshing the booking page until I was able to find two, and the second was at a centre 30 miles away! After I had my first appointment I cancelled it and got a new one at the same centre I had my first one at almost immediately. If you can't get a second appointment near you I'd suggest you try the same if possible.

I didnt book my second. I went for the first and they gave me a card which had the next next vaccine on exactly 12 weeks time at the same appt time. I thought that was standard practice.

@TheVampiresWife Thank you for the advice. Will try that approach. I don't want to leave it much longer before I have the first dose of vaccine.

@palacegirl77 That's interesting. Everything I can find online suggests they should both be booked together. Did you use the NHS site? Or was it via your GP?

Same as @palacegirl77. As soon as I booked first jab, I got a text confirmation. Then seconds later a text to tell me the details of the appointment for my 2nd jab which was exactly 12 weeks after first, in the same venue.

And mine was through NHS site.

I was told the gp would contact to arrange. Well their admin I expect. So no idea when it will be,.

@Kolo That’s interesting. Will try & book just the first appointment then & see what happens.

@AzureTwist Have you booked/received your first dose already? I haven’t received a notification from my GP practice that I am even eligible for the vaccine (even though I am over 50). I simply heard the news update a few weeks ago & went straight to the nhs website & booked both appointments. I’m gutted that I had to cancel them.

My booking invitation was via a link in a text message from my GP. The initial booking confirmation text then said I would be contacted by my GP surgery in due course with a date for my second jab. Essex.
