Would you call the police if neighbours had family round?

Just wondering if people will still call the police if next door had more than 2 households not in the garden?

@TheJerkStore

If we just throw all precautions away now and go back to normal, that strain will emerge sooner and we will have people dying from more than one strain.

Seriously, can't you see why that would he a disaster?

So what's your plan? What do you think will be different in a few weeks time when two households can meet up indoors? Or in a few months time when all restrictions are lifted?

Far more people will have been vaccinated and the virus will have a much harder time spreading, reducing the risk.

These dates and figures haven't just been pulled out of a hat. Is that seriously so hard to understand?

Baileysforchristmas · 04/04/2021 10:17

We’ve all been vaccinated over 3 weeks ago or have had Covid at Christmas. The weathers nice today so I think we will be outside, we have a big table set up in the garden, thanks for all your replies, happy Easter everyone 😊

In a weeks time we can go to the gym & mix with a million people in Primark, I can’t get worked up about a small family gathering.

LottieZ · 04/04/2021 10:17

No because I’m not an arsehole.

TheImber · 04/04/2021 10:18
@TheImber how do you know a strain will emerge that's resistant to the vaccine? I'm not arguing I'm genuinely interested in what claim and from what I understand you are saying we'll need yet another vaccine because the ones that are available now will be rendered useless?
rizzo because the more viruses spread, the more they mutate and the greater those mutations become. Non random natural selection ensures that mutations that help the viruses survival (I.e those thst make it vaccine resistant) will emerge and then spread faster.

It's GCSE level biology stuff.

Nuitsdesetoiles · 04/04/2021 10:19

No, because I'd never be a snitch like that and the senseless restrictions make little difference. People have overwhelmingly been catching it at work or in hospital and care settings. The rule breaking thing is what some on here want to believe... But it's not backed up by the stats. I don't know anyone who's followed the rules to the letter and anyone I know who's caught it, caught it at work.

HarrietOh · 04/04/2021 10:20

Someone called the police on us being a group of six in the garden, obviously must have exaggerated it to the police as they turned up and then went when realised no rule breaking was going on.

Strangekindofwoman · 04/04/2021 10:20

I wonder what people like Thelmber will get bent out of shape about when Boris lets us all out.

Sansaplans · 04/04/2021 10:20

No, unless they were being violent or whatever.

CovidPostingName · 04/04/2021 10:21

Oh so now you ARE going in the garden? Don't be such a goady fucker OP!

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 04/04/2021 10:23

Not unless there were other factors at play (excessive late noise or masses of people, or whatever). I might’ve reported just for breaching mixing rules when Covid was at full throttle but not now, the risk is so low.

WouldBeGood · 04/04/2021 10:23

Vaccine resistance is very rare.

It’s not the same as mutations, which are common but often less serious.

TurquoiseDress · 04/04/2021 10:23

No don't be ridiculous

I'd call police only if I thought somebody's life was in danger/signs of domestic violence going on

TheJerkStore · 04/04/2021 10:24

These dates and figures haven't just been pulled out of a hat. Is that seriously so hard to understand?

Ooooh you're a patronising bugger aren't you.

Other than additional vaccinations ( which are likely to be people who are low risk anyway) not much will have changed in many areas.

Where I live cases have been between 0-2 for months now and there have been zero deaths for a much longer period.
Business are failing and people are losing their jobs. That's an absolute travesty.

Because my wider area was classed as a high risk area (despite my immediate area being well below National figures throughout) we've been under additional restrictions for over a year now.

It's ridiculous and I'm fucking sick of it.
I've continued to follow the rules apart from spending time with my gran when my grandad was in Hospital but I do not judge others for spending time with friends and family.

Cushionsnotpillows · 04/04/2021 10:25

@PhilCornwall1 ooh ember just pulled the "blood on your hands" one, that must be at least a line if not full house Grin

TheReluctantPhoenix · 04/04/2021 10:25

Depends on size of gathering. Probably not for small groups, maybe for 15+ people. Have not yet, though.

I do struggle, however, to see why people think reporting someone for COVID violations is terrible but not, say, for shoplifting or drug taking.

The limit on gatherings is there for a reason and has saved lives. Shoplifting probably ends up being a tax on other shoppers and drug taking mainly harms the taker.

If you think you should stick your nose out of others’ business short of physical abuse or murder, I get it. If you would shop a shop lifter or a drug taker, but not a COVID law breaker, I don’t really get it.

TempsPerdu · 04/04/2021 10:26

No, I would never have done this, even during the peak of the pandemic.

NerrSnerr · 04/04/2021 10:27

@Iwantacookie not inside like the OP is doing.

I wouldn't report but I do wish people would continue to be cautious over the next few months just in case there's a spike of Covid cases from the unvaccinated which may delay the 'road map'.

TempsPerdu · 04/04/2021 10:27

Actually on reflection I might have done for an actual rave or huge wedding or something - anything smaller than that, nope.

No

Ohpulltheotherone · 04/04/2021 10:31

No I wouldn’t. A rave with 500 people probably yes I would report it.
A private gathering with a handful of adults and some kids, no.

Every week women are beaten and murdered in their own home by their partners and ex partners, how many people ring the police when they hear shouting and screaming? How many think “oh no that’s worrying” but then decide to mind their own business? LOADS.

A woman was murdered locally to me last month, people reported hearing a lot of shouting and banding AFTER the police came and found her dead. No one rang the police whilst it was going on.

If you’re gonna snitch on your neighbours, make it for things which count.

Absolutely this.
