Are you under 40 and had the AZ vaccine?

Can you just give me a wave please? Or is there data on this anywhere?

I’ve had mine as an unpaid carer and am mid 30s but am the youngest person I know to have had AZ. It’s giving me the impression that I’m one of the first in this age group, which probably isn’t true. That thought is making the news about Canada suspending the AZ vaccine for under 55s a bit scary. So if you’re under 40, female, had AZ and are fine please reassure me. Blush

I've had mine, minimal side effects! I'm in my 30's and female.

This isn't official data but they seem to be vaccinating people in their late 30's locally now. Everyone I know who is around 40 has been done and they've all been fine too.

Newnamefor2021 · 30/03/2021 13:43

37, female, had it Saturday. Fever and chills on Sunday and sore arm. Fine today. Well worth it.

ferretface · 30/03/2021 13:44

I know of various healthcare workers in their 30s who have had it, nothing more than mild side effects for a day or so.

MRex · 30/03/2021 14:49

1/3 of doses so far have been Pfizer and 2/3 Astrazeneca.
As of 21st March, 1/3 of those vaccinated were under 55, but the majority of people vaccinated in the week ending 21st March were aged under 55. As of 21st March, 2,539,057 people aged 50 to 54 and 5,410,856 people aged under 50 have been vaccinated with at least one dose.

Most of those under 55 got Oxford Astrazeneca. Including me, but I'm a few years too old for you to be interested. It was fine by the way, mild headache after a few days that went away with paracetamol.

CovidCorvid · 30/03/2021 14:50

Dd is 19yo and had AZ a few weeks ago, she’s fine.

LinzerTorte · 30/03/2021 15:33

My 19 year old DD also had it just over a week ago, no side effects at all.

raeray · 30/03/2021 15:41

Me!
As part of the trial so heading towards a year now (June 20) since my first vaccine of AZ.
I'm all okay - and feel so lucky to have had it this long (although I didn't find out until December that I had the actual Covid vaccine rather than placebo)

Confuzzlediddled · 30/03/2021 15:42

not me but my 2 youngest team members have both had it (asthma) 22 and 21 respectively.

One was fine and dandy, one had 2 days off sick!

TidyOmlette · 30/03/2021 15:43

Almost 32 and had it two weeks ago due to being a frontline worker. No health problems

pinkearedcow · 30/03/2021 16:59

OP, why have you got two threads running about this?

Boringlynormal · 30/03/2021 17:03

Thanks everyone, reassuring to not feel as alone in being an AZ vaccinated woman in my 30s!

Me !

Rainbowsandstorms · 30/03/2021 17:07

OP thank you for starting this thread I’m in the same position. In my 30s and had it on Saturday. Been having a massive panic this afternoon but I’m feeling reassured by this thread. I’ve also now had a more objective look at the news and I don’t think much has changed since the reviews that took place after it was suspended in some of the EU countries and then deemed to be safe. I think there is a very small risk but we know what we are looking out for and if caught early the condition is meant to be treatable. I will however be very relieved once I’m post 20 days of being vaccinated. As we’ve had it I think the best thing to do is to make sure we are clued up on the symptoms and step away from the news and hopefully soon we’ll have some protection from covid which is why we had the vaccination.

ImInACage · 30/03/2021 17:10

I'm mod 30s and had it last week. I have very bad asthma and am an unpaid carer. I felt very fluey for two days, but fine apart from that.

HairboStrawb · 30/03/2021 17:13

I'm 26 and had mine a few weeks ago

Boringlynormal · 30/03/2021 17:15

Think you’re absolutely right. What’s done is done and so far we are well.

35 and had it just over a week ago. No side effects, although I did fall over and break a finger running home from the appointment. Which is nothing to do with az and everything to do with not looking where I'm going.

Hophop26 · 30/03/2021 17:18

Like others have said you are one of 1000s of under 40 year olds to have had the AZ vaccine so far. I’m under 40 and had it 5 weeks ago and others were there at the same time, we were at the first clinic for group 6 a few days after they finished the first 4 priority groups were done here so at that point, mid-Feb yes not many under 40s had it but masses of people have had it since then and a huge proportion of group 6 are under 40s

muddledmidget · 30/03/2021 17:20

36, female, had my first AZ jab end of January, felt like crap for hours 12-36 after the vaccination, but never really had a headache, just every other part of me felt like I'd been hit my a bus! Looking forward to my second, but am going to plan it for a day I don't have to be up at 5am (could have had it today but tomorrow is a day I have to be up at 4.50 and drive 1.5 hours to work, not a good day to be ill!)

Boringlynormal · 30/03/2021 17:26

Ouch! I broke a finger being head butted accidentally by my child last year so arguably it’s a side effect of pregnancy.

Had it recently, group 6 and I'm mid 30s. Fluey etc for a couple of days then fine, actually jumping for joy I'd had it. It doesn't give as good protection as some others but that was the one I was offered, I jumped at any vaccine and feel incredibly blessed. I trust the Oxford scientists 100 percent.

Annabellerina · 30/03/2021 18:52

Mid 30s and had my first AZ in Feb. Truthfully I only accepted it because I thought it might help me travel this year. Felt really ill for about 24 hours after, achey arm for 4 or 5 days.

Angel2702 · 30/03/2021 19:09

I’m 38 had first dose in February. No side affects at all and I have a blood clotting disorder.

kimlo · 30/03/2021 20:00

I had it. One day of feeling sorry for myself and one day of feeling off if I didn't stay on top of the paracetamol. I'm ok now.

kayakingmum · 30/03/2021 20:03

I'm 38 and had mine at the end of February probably because they had a surplus.
I felt rough for 24h afterwards, then fine.
