Vaccines: Refusers versus aspirers

I sometimes think I'm living in an alternate universe.

There are all these posts over social media, including mumsnet, about how vaccines are evil, they are all sent to kill us, DO YOUR RESEARCH you sheeple.

And then there are all the other posts about so relieved my Mum had her vaccine, it's not fair that I/my mum/my friend who is CEV hasn't got their vaccine yet and the EU are trying to shaft us.

It's a bit disconcerting, if I'm honest. But then I look at the takeup numbers, and it does seem that those who want the vaccine are the large majority.

So, which are you?

  1. Had it/will have it when invited
  2. No way, Jose
  3. Mmmm.... still deliberating.

I'm a 1.

@LabiaMinoraPissusFlapus
The trouble with letting the virus rampage through the younger generation to build up natural immunity is that it gives it more opportunity to mutate which could then render the current vaccines less effective for the older and vulnerable people so we would be back to square one with death and serious disease.
Oh and definitely a 1.

BlueBlancmange · 27/03/2021 19:02

1 I've had it and am very grateful to have had it.

Having my second in 3 weeks and can't bloody wait! Have felt a relief from the sheer panic of catching covid just by having my first dose - was on a total high all that afternoon Grin

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 27/03/2021 19:04

Of course the take up was high in the at risk older generations- I will take it but not whilst I’m breastfeeding

I suppose I’m a 1 but not an especially enthusiastic one - had my first jab yesterday (only just turned 40 but my borough seems to be racing through them). Wasn’t all that fussed about getting it and certainly didn’t get emotional or anything - wouldn’t have been trying to jump the queue as I’ve never felt that threatened by the virus. Had the vaccine mainly to do my bit for herd immunity rather than for my own benefit.

I imagine this feeling will be even more pronounced in people younger than me, for whom Covid is even less of a personal risk.

rosie1959 · 27/03/2021 19:11

1 most definitely

JustAnotherBrick · 27/03/2021 19:14
  1. Had the first dose, eagerly awaiting the second.
lljkk · 27/03/2021 19:18

DH dragged me off today, so had it. I guess I decided not to be truculent. It's not like I enjoy catching colds (worst I could imagine covid being for me)

I am afraid of covid passport situation making it hard to see my family (abroad). or even do things like renew my kids' passports.

Would have been content to wait until July or never otherwise.

Reluctant 1, I guess. Although I dunno what will happen when invited for jab2. Then I could be an impassive 2.

Spodge · 27/03/2021 19:21
  1. Had first dose. Very pleased.
hedgehogger1 · 27/03/2021 19:21
  1. The less it's able to spread the less opportunity to mutate and the quicker we get out of this crap
roguetomato · 27/03/2021 19:24

1!

Couchpotato3 · 27/03/2021 19:24

1 and very relieved to have had my first dose.

Resident of Edward Jenner's home county!

The topic title may as well have said,

"If you're dipshit crazy, come and tell everyone how enlightened you are HERE!"

Sometimes the more I read, the more I think that everyone should have to pass a intelligence test before they're allowed to make any decisions for themselves lol.

Should get second in April all going well.

Anyone worrying about blood clots. They have done the investigating. Far fewer cases than in the unvaccinated population.

D0ntAtMe · 27/03/2021 19:34

Every adult in my household has had it, the only person who hasn't is my sil and she says she won't unless she has to

I keep seeing people who say everyone who is vulnerable is now vaccinated so everything should immediate up. I don't understand Thai because I'm CEV and have only had my first dose

TidyDancer · 27/03/2021 19:35

1, and happily so. Can't wait for my second (just over 9 weeks to go).

Topseyt · 27/03/2021 19:37

I had my first dose about a month ago. Waiting to hear when I will get my second.

D0ntAtMe · 27/03/2021 19:37

Pressed send too soon.

I keep seeing people the vulnerable are all vaccinated but most I know, including myself have only had the first dose. I was told to keep shielding until I've had my second in may.

My sister is the only person I know who has had both jabs and hers is because she work in healthcare, I thought both were needed for full efficiency so I don't understand why some people are saying everyone who needs it has already had when many many many havent yet.

Alfaix · 27/03/2021 19:40
  1. Had 2 doses of AZ.
Working as a volunteer vaccinator. Managed to get DH in with a spare dose. It’s a no brainier IMO.
middleager · 27/03/2021 19:40
  1. And at 48, obese, high BP, working in schools and two teens at different schools in high risk areas, I'd crawl over hot coals to get it!!
eaglejulesk · 27/03/2021 19:43
  1. - although it's a long way off (I'm in NZ)
Rainbowgravy · 27/03/2021 19:45

1 so grateful to have had my first vaccine.
