one had his mask over his mouth but under his nose (I never know if that's down to stupidity or 'making a statement') and the other had his pulled right down under his chin.

If even the law enforcers aren't sticking to the rules anymore, I think that says something!

I saw someone wearing one on there top lip yesterday not even over the mouth just top lip under the nose

In all honesty they are probably going to say they are within the rules as they are the ones enforcing them what gets me is the video I saw last year they came in and searched this elderly man's home on suspension of a covid breach he didn't want to let them in due to covid but he did eventually he filmed them in the end as they were leaving one was stroking his bare hand over the walls others were just putting there masks and gloves on AS they were LEAVING they knew he was anxious and deliberately wound him up (he was home alone) they have not come out of this pandemic well

CovidCorvid · 26/03/2021 18:58

Well I think if someone is driving it’s fair enough to not wear a mask, my glasses fog up no matter what I do so I wouldn’t be safe. But the other one really should be abiding by the rules.......if that’s what the rules for the police say?

I don’t think there’s a law about employees wearing masks when close to each other?

kowari · 26/03/2021 19:03

They're in the van together, it's probably seen like a work bubble and they will each be considered a close contact if the other tests positive.

FurrySlipperBoots · 26/03/2021 19:03

They weren't wearing glasses, although I do really empathise with people who do who have to wear a mask for work - I feel so miserable just going round the supermarket, with the straight choice of being blind because my glasses have misted right up, or blind because I get so frustrated I take the off!

MarcelineMissouri · 26/03/2021 19:06

What @kowari said. Are they even supposed to be wearing masks if it’s just them and they’re not dealing with the public?

Or maybe they’d just been having a drink and a snack in the middle of a very long shift?

ihatethecold · 26/03/2021 19:11

Ffs get a life.
Seriously, why do you care?

EileenGC · 26/03/2021 19:24

This. I don't wear a mask when I'm with my closest 'work bubble'. There's very little point, especially when we're tested a million times each week. I don't know how often the UK police are tested by the way.
FurrySlipperBoots · 26/03/2021 19:25

@ihatethecold Because I want everything to be normal again! 'normal' normal, not 'new normal'. Why am I abiding by the rules, when I'd rather not, if even the police aren't bothering?!

To be fair, I don't know that they do have to keep their masks on if they're in a 'work bubble' (never heard of that before!) but again, if colleagues can risk transmitting covid to each other, and therefore each other's families, and the people their families come in contact with... why can't I hang out with the people I love? I've not seen my best friend since summer. That's why I care.

Do you actually know if they’re supposed to when it’s just them or is it just with the public? They’re in the same vehicle touching similar things and at some points they’re going to need to pull masks down to eat and drink

XenoBitch · 26/03/2021 19:27

My goodness, do you think they only approach criminals that have a mask on too. "Sorry mate, can you pop this mask on before we chase you down the lane and restrain you... you know, just in case"

OverTheRainbow88 · 26/03/2021 19:29

Maybe that had stopped and were having a lunch break/drink.

Hard to eat with a mask on!

ShutUpAlex · 26/03/2021 19:29

Oh boo hoo you have to wear a mask for half an hour while you do some shopping. These police officers have to be in the van all day on shifts. So what if they’re having a breather for 5 minutes mind your own business!

Scottishgirl85 · 26/03/2021 19:34

We're now pointing fingers at Police officers. Wow.

toocold54 · 26/03/2021 19:36

Someone posted that they were stopped by the police because her and her husband who were both in a work van didn’t have masks on so it’s frustrating to know that the police aren’t following the rules either. However I try not to to judge just because they could have been eating their lunch or something.

Crafting1Queen · 26/03/2021 19:37

ODFOD

FurrySlipperBoots · 26/03/2021 19:45

@Crafting1Queen That's not a nice thing to say. Maybe you're having a bad day or something, I can understand that, but we can have opposing views with you needing to be so unpleasant.

I'm not shrieking hysterically about the fact they weren't wearing masks (driving down the road, not eating). I'm not reporting them to the 'higher ups' or telling the media. Quite frankly I'm on their side! I just wish it was legal for me to be on their side, that's all.

ineedaholidaynow · 26/03/2021 19:48

Is there such a thing as a work bubble?

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 26/03/2021 19:56

Yes, in schools.

InFiveMins · 26/03/2021 20:06

FFS.

Who knows why they weren't wearing their masks 'properly'? Maybe they are in a relationship, or maybe they are brothers, or maybe they are housemates, or maybe they have created a bubble together and happen to live together?

The fact of the matter is nobody knows but them, and it is entirely none of your business Grin

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 26/03/2021 20:15

That's dreadful, I once saw a Policeman on a Bike (!) and he didn't have any lights. If it had got dark suddenly he would have been in a right old quandary. Shock

ineedaholidaynow · 26/03/2021 20:22

@RuleWithAWoodenFoot the schools I deal with all adults have to keep to SD or wear masks

UhtredRagnarson · 26/03/2021 20:24

Interesting. A MNer reported being stopped in her van with her husband last week by the police and told they should be wearing masks. Maybe this is the way the police wanted her to wear it. Under her nose or chin.

SquirtleSquad · 26/03/2021 20:24

My Dsis house shares with another police officer and when they're on duty together in a vehicle they don't have to wear masks because they are one household.
They have to wear them when interacting with others but as soon as they're alone or inside a car they're fine to pull them down.

ineedaholidaynow · 26/03/2021 20:27

I assume they are allowed to do that as they live in the same house @SquirtleSquad. Wouldn't apply if they live in different houses

SquirtleSquad · 26/03/2021 20:28

Yeah exactly that's why I said because they're one household. My point, if it wasn't clear, was that you just don't know what people's situations are looking from the outside.
