I'm not on mainland UK and was thinking about booking a weekend break in London for a milestone birthday on 15-17 May. Would this be allowed?

12th April but only for 1 household

Lantanacamara · 26/03/2021 18:25

So as a family we can go to a hotel in London, they will all be open?

Book a self contained airbnb. I think hotels open later

Thanks for the replies, they are very helpful.

Only self contained places open 12th April. Not hotels.

SorryPardonWhat · 26/03/2021 18:33

Hotels open from 17th May

Waxonwaxoff0 · 26/03/2021 18:37

Hotels are from 17th May, Air BnB/self contained accommodation from 12th April.

Chimeraforce · 26/03/2021 20:14

Self contained 12 April. Timed perfectly right when the Easter holidays are finished 🙄
Slog continues until June.... Oh wait they're either fully booked, only the shit boxes remain or 5k for a week. Yay. 🙄
Still there's always the August break in Scotland already booked... Oh wait get back in your cages.... Lockdown 1000 another break cancelled and refunded🙄

“Not on mainland UK” could mean several things. I’d want to check that you’d actually be allowed to enter the mainland UK without 10 days in a quarantine hotel, and also get back in to wherever you call home.

Parker231 · 26/03/2021 20:20

Where are you travelling from? You may not be able to enter the U.K. without going into a quarantine hotel or self isolation.

Lantanacamara · 26/03/2021 20:46

I'm coming from NI, so don't think quarantine is necessary? I lost track of all of the rules a while back though.

Also bear in mind that these are just the 'road map' dates and aren't confirmed yet.

Our Easter hols go on until the 18th.

I work in holiday letting. 12th for anywhere self-contained but only one household and bubble if applicable. 17th May for two households/ bubble OR rule of 6 in anywhere that shares facilities including entrances, lifts, corridors etc. Book an Airbnb or wait until after 17th May and indoor hospitality should be open then too. Otherwise you might find yourself sitting in a cold pub garden!

XenoBitch · 26/03/2021 20:50

April 12th for self contained and same household. I have a caravan holiday booked for May with my mum (support bubble). Have had email confirmation it is going ahead.
