Do waiting lists for spare vaccines exist?

I have heard of these, but no idea how to access one. It’s for DH - late 40’s obese secondary teacher with several underlying conditions (but it seems these conditions are not deemed bad enough to be a priority so he’ll be pushed back to group 10 in May).

I’m sure he must be a little bit worthy of a leftover vaccine. Any ideas? We are south central England.

GP website forcefully states not to contact them so I haven’t, but should I try? Am just worried, as DH ticks the boxes for so many vulnerabilities to covid, without being officially on groups 1-9.

Yep that's how I got mine. I'm 35 with underlying health issues but nit serious. My GP surgery was involved in a shared roll out at the vaccine centre. I got on the list via them. But I have to speak to my GP monthly and he asked me.

If he is obese is he not eligible anyway?

Worth speaking to the receptionist and state you are increasingly worried because of rising rates at school. Here they are emailing the school each day around 3 if it looks like there will be spare vaccine

It varies. The health centre I went to said no, as the uptake is so high, but a relative in her 40s who has asthma and some allergies got hers elsewhere by waiting at the end of the session.

They exist but the management of them will
vary from health authority to health authority so it’s about managing to find out from yours about how to get on any reserve lists.

Yes, I’m on a list at the local pharmacy for a call whenever they have spares. But every vaccine place seems to be managing the process differently, so you have to ask around.
