What is the protocol.

Negative lateral flow last night.

New symptoms this morning.

Will also say another member of the household had symptoms Tuesday and was tested and negative.

Get a pcr. I had a lft on Thursday last week but had mild cold symptoms. Was iller on Friday so got a pcr test. Positive.

What symptoms do you have?
If you have a fever, cough, loss of smell or taste you need to get a PCR test. You can book here:

Thank you both, that's what I thought. It was a cough and PCR now done. I was being told I was wrong and the negative lateral flow meant I didn't need to test and should send child into school.

Hope you're ok, OP. Getting an PCR test done is exactly what I'd do as well.

We do lft twice weekly through school. They made it very clear that if we had symptoms we should isolate and get a pcr whatever the lft said.

Seeline · 25/03/2021 09:22

LFT should not be used if a person has symptoms. Go straight for a PCR having isolated the whole household until result is known.

Glad you were able to get your PCR test so quickly. Hope you're feeling okay and fingers crossed for a negative result.

Glad you’ve managed to get one. I’d also be emailing school so they are clear that lateral flow tests aren’t a substitute for a PCR if you have symptoms. LFT miss about 40 percent of positive cases but are useful to pick up the remaining 60 percent of cases that may otherwise be missed.

@ahhhhhhhhhhhh did you get the results? How are you all feeling?
