AstraZeneca 1st Covid Injection

Has anyone had any side effects to the AZ Covid injection? And if so, what were they?

I had my injection on Saturday morning and since Sunday I've felt absolutely terrible! Aching body, splitting headache, tired with no energy. Paracetamol doesn't even touch my symptoms.

I've googled side effects and they all sound normal but I am worried how long they are lasting.

Thanks

Had mine on Saturday morning, felt really rough on Sunday, headache, tired and aches all over my body.
Felt a bit better everyday. Just a sore arm now where the injection site is.

Spodge · 24/03/2021 18:21

Mine (severe fatigue) lasted 12 hours. The longest duration of side effects I have heard of among people I know personally is 3 days.

AgnesNaismith · 24/03/2021 18:22

Yes, grim, shivering and sweating, headache and bad vision. Took a few days and religious paracetamol.

Hope you feel better soon.

Crikeymalikey · 24/03/2021 18:26

I had mine yesterday afternoon, felt fine all evening but when I woke this morning my arm feels like it’s been punched by the rock, terrible headache with dizziness and nausea, I ache all over in ever joint and muscle and temp is 38.4 and climbing even with paracetamol!
I hope it wears off soon, didn’t even feel the actual vaccine but this is hideous, first time I’ve been physically poorly in years!

Chills, fever, headache, sore throat, swollen glands in neck.

Fine again now - sore throat was the last to go after 5 days.

Do you think those of us with more side effects will get more antibodies etc?

WhentheDealGoesDown · 24/03/2021 18:38

Had temperature, headache, dry mouth and felt sick for about 24 hours, which started about 12 hours after jab. I also noticed that my heartbeat was higher than normal all day, it showed this on my Apple Watch, apparently this happens if you are ill so looks like no need for alarm, it went down to normal afterwards. arm felt ok throughout just very slight tenderness when touched

Isolatedizzy · 24/03/2021 18:39

I had a red swollen area round the injection site for over a week! Still slightly tender now nearly 2 weeks later!

Don't worry OP, it sounds completely normal. I had mine last Wednesday morning and by the evening felt like I had really nasty flu. Woke up at 3am Thursday with a nosebleed and really violent shivers/chills but a raging temperature. I felt awful all day Thursday and Friday (despite necking solpadeine max every four hours) and slept loads. I woke up on Saturday morning feeling almost back to normal and was so chuffed, but on Sunday afternoon it hit me again. Still dodgy on Monday but touch wood yesterday and today I've been ok, although I did have another nosebleed earlier. Don't know if the nosebleeds are connected but it seems like a massive coincidence if not.

Hope you feel better soon - try to rest and take paracetamol/solpadeine if you have any.

FurrySlipperBoots · 24/03/2021 18:55

My mum and my aunt both had horrible side affects. Just what's already been mentioned, plus my mum lost her central vision for a while.

ItsAllBlahBlahBlah · 24/03/2021 19:03

Same as other posts OP, raging flu like chills after around 12 hours of having the jab, full ache through limbs, in fact I struggled to lift my arms much at all and pick up my baby. I had mine on Saturday and have only really felt normal today, but my arm is still rather sore.

I hope you feel better soon

Scr1bblyGum · 24/03/2021 19:06

Had it 5.10pm yesterday. Woke up feeling sick and a bit faint/dizzy. Throbbing arm. Went away with water. Took paracetamol and went to work. Arm really painful and I feel achy now.

Chillychangchoo · 24/03/2021 19:09

I had mine yesterday at 10am. I have been fine but started taking paracetamol straight away after. Bit of a sore arm but that’s it.

Twobrews · 24/03/2021 19:13

I had mine last week had a headache, felt hot and exhausted that evening and most of the next day but fine by the following evening.
The nurse told me if I had a bad headache for a full four days to get in touch with the doctor urgently.

Puffthemagicdragongoestobed · 24/03/2021 19:36

I had similar side effects but was back to normal 48 hours after the jab and paracetamol definitely helped. I would get in touch with your GP as this sounds quite lengthy for you. Hope you get better soon Thanks
