PCR test result timescales

I've had to have a PCR test day as I have a temperature. I know it's not covid, it's mastitis, it's very obvious and GP has given me antibiotics for it.
I am obviously self isolating until my test is back. I had it this morning at 0830.

I'm in the middle of a very important training course and I need to be present for it. They've facilitated me missing one day but any longer and I'll have to repeat the whole thing (two weeks, and I'm due to finish this Friday!) this is a nightmare as the reason I've got mastitis is because I'm working a silly long day and away from my baby more than usual, I usually express at work but no facility / time to on course.

So, what's peoples experience, how long is it taking PCR test from a walk in test site results back?

South east if that makes any odds.

Last week I had a test Thursday at 10am and the result came back Friday at 1pm. This was a walk in site in the east of England. I didn’t see any other people getting tested at the same time. Back in December I had my results in 12 hours. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.

My DH recently had a test at 830am one day and received results about 10am the next day

catpoooffender · 24/03/2021 15:39

Did a test at a drive in last Thursday at 9am and the results were back by 6am on Friday.

Littlepic · 24/03/2021 16:24

Watching this with interest. I had my primary aged son tested this morning at 8:30am (South east also), almost 100% sure it's a cold as he is snotty but he also developed a cough this morning. Fingers crossed it's back in the morning so children can go back to school.

TheWristBoundLatexBitch · 24/03/2021 16:26

Test yesterday 8 am, results 2am this morning. Walk through test site in London.

PicsInRed · 24/03/2021 16:50

I had results same day, in 7 hours - it was Sunday though so YMMV.

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 24/03/2021 16:57

piscis · 24/03/2021 17:06

I had one myself in early January and my DD one this Monday. Less than 24 hours both

Twickerhun · 24/03/2021 17:07

We got a test back this morning at 8.30 - 23 hours after taking it

Dopeyduck · 24/03/2021 18:52

Thanks this seems like positive news. I'm absolutely wiped out and feel dreadful! GP gave me a stern talking to for not going sooner. I really hope the antibiotics kick in soon it's agony!

DD was tested last Thursday. Test at 9.00am, results back at 1.30pm Friday afternoon - negative.

Scbchl · 24/03/2021 20:09

We had ours at 12pm on Monday. Had results at 6.14am Tuesday. My cousins son had his at 9.15am this morning and results came back at 7pm tonight.

Findahouse21 · 24/03/2021 20:11

South East, tested yesterday at 9:30am and had results by 7 this morning ( positive here :()

Crunchymum · 24/03/2021 20:16

Regardless of your results, it sounds like you are quite poorly.

Take it easy.

hellcatspangle · 24/03/2021 20:17

I had a test at 3pm last week and got the result 11am next day

Afishcalledwonderful · 24/03/2021 20:20

My son had his test at the test centre at 8am last Friday and the result came in over night. Negative phew!

KinderWild · 24/03/2021 23:49

We got our son tested at 12noon on Saturday (SE London), results still weren't back by 9am on Monday. Called 119 and the QR code scan at the test centre hadn't worked. They linked his details with the test barcode and we got the results within 5 mins. Just mentioning as it may be worth a ring to check everything is in the system correctly if your results seem to be taking a while to come back.

Littlepic · 25/03/2021 01:59

Little update from me, just had results back. Thankfully negative. I hope you get your results soon OP and start to feel better.

Dopeyduck · 25/03/2021 07:06

No results yet! Hopefully soon! Reassuring most people back the next day. Thank you to the poster who mentioned about calling 119 to make sure it's in the system correct - will keep this in mind.

Dd tested at drive through 6pm last night and result back 6am this morning (negative)

TravellingSpoon · 25/03/2021 07:36

I do weekly tests. It used to be if it was done on X day I would have the results when I woke up not the next day but the following one.

The last couple of weeks I have had them on X day and they have been back the following day at lunchtime, so its getting quicker.

bathsh3ba · 25/03/2021 07:58

14 hours here in SW (negative) using drive thru centre.

RebeccaCloud9 · 25/03/2021 16:38

Have you had your results @Dopeyduck?

Alone97 · 25/03/2021 16:45

South west, had test done at half 3 Tuesday and got the results just after 12am wed.
So just under 9 hours, was very surprised.

Dopeyduck · 25/03/2021 17:57

Results came in just after 12 noon, so 16hrs after the test - not bad really! Negative as expected. Sadly not in time for me to make it to my course Sad
