Should I test DD?

DD 17 months has a cold, she is full of snot, struggling to breathe lying down and is generally grumpy. She was a bit warm earlier this morning but she was screaming the house down so I don't think it was a genuine temp. She is gulping loudly like her throat is sore and she is coughing a little but it is very mucousy and infrequent (she has been asleep on me for a while and when she stirs you can hear her swallow mucous and then cough.

She has had 2 covid tests before so I'm not against her having one but I'm genuinely not convinced she needs one this time - thoughts?

If she does, I need to sort ASAP today as ideally I need to return to work and her nursery as soon as she is feeling better. I work for a school so take lateral flows, mine was negative on Sunday night (just some extra info!)

I wouldn’t. My little ones have had mega colds over the weekend, much like you describe. I hadn’t even considered it to be honest.

*posted too soon!

I’m not against testing obviously but we’ve had constant colds since Feb & my littlest starting nursery! My youngest had a fever & was flatly refusing to eat or drink a couple weeks ago. I rang the GP & she told me not to test her but instead to bring her down to be checked out first. Turned out to be a nasty case of tonsillitis.. so no test needed. Just antibiotics!

My 2 year old has a cold, occasional cough on snot, I’m not testing him.

Thanks @HolmeH and @tappitytaptap it is so hard to know what to do when in normal times I'd just have a couple of pj days and be done with it! She is losing her little voice now and will reassess if anything changes but won't test now. This is her 3rd cold this year, poor thing
