Swabbing child cheek

Doing a PCR on my DC age 6 at a test centre and DC making a bug fuss anxious of getting the swab in nose. A worker knocked on the window and told us we can swab cheeks. Is this just to avoid parents forcing unwilling children to do the test as I can't see anywhere that says a sample can be collected that way so I'm concerned it will be a false result.

All the instructions for both home and test centre, PCR and LFT, say not to touch the swab in cheeks so that seems rather strange!

You shouldn't swab the cheeks, it should be the back of the throat where the tonsils are!
