Am I allowed to do this on 29th March?

Travel to my parents house and sit in their back garden?

I've just read you can meet in private gardens ( up to 2 different households) from March 29th.

For some reason I thought this wasn't allowed until June!

Yes you can. I assume you're in England.

xanysays · 23/03/2021 06:50

Yes in England.

Why did I not know this Confused

You can, but not indoors, so presumably you'll have to clamber over the fence to get into their garden, unless there's side access.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 23/03/2021 06:52

Yes you can. And I don’t know why you didn’t know, this has been in my head diary since the roadmap was announced.

6 people, or two separate households so could be more,

And go home every time you need a wee.
rattlemehearties · 23/03/2021 06:54

How far is the drive? Don't think you are meant to go into their house for the loo for example.

Whatalottachocca · 23/03/2021 06:54

We have friends coming round to sit round the firepit in the evening. Can’t wait!

Hippywannabe · 23/03/2021 06:57

Yes, I am going to meet my granddaughter for the first time!

itsgettingwierd · 23/03/2021 06:57

Yes you can - enjoy!

And ignore the not walking through house or using loo bit. As long as you go in alone and use antiviral wipes on handles afterwards as well as usual hand hygiene there's no more risk there than going to a supermarket!

GiveMeNovocain · 23/03/2021 06:57

If it's the same as Wales you can walk through the house to get to the garden and use the loo.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 23/03/2021 06:59

A Downing Street spokesman has stated visitors are allowed to access the garden through the house and use the loo. This was allowed last time as well. It would be ridiculous if it wasn’t.

TheGoodEnoughWife · 23/03/2021 07:05

Yea you can and yes you can use the toilet.

Ifailed · 23/03/2021 07:07

Piss off Ami.

You are allowed to do this in Scotland too.
FlyingBurrito · 23/03/2021 07:17

I don't know how you don't know that either, it's been a massive topic of conversation amongst my friends and family Grin

Needcoffeecoffeecoffee · 23/03/2021 07:19

Does it include eating too? Having a bbq/picnic? Outside

Juliesipadwillcallyouback · 23/03/2021 07:23

Isnt it weird that we need government 'permission' to use the loo!

Delatron · 23/03/2021 08:13

So annoying when people make up their own rules.

So only people with huge detached houses with side access can have people round? Right. They have specifically said you can access the garden through the house and use the loo.

HolmeH · 23/03/2021 10:25

Yes @Needcoffeecoffeecoffee - you can do whatever you like! We are having an Easter BBQ with my family, an Easter egg hunt with my neighbours (the kids) & drinks with my mum pals on Easter Monday .. it’ll probably rain 🙈😂 but I’m so excited! We all have outside garden access but you are allowed through houses & to use the toilet!

I live in a terrace and have side access - there’s an access road at the back. Lots of houses that aren’t detached also have side access.
Itsasin1981 · 23/03/2021 10:32

Honestly, just do it. Do it tomorrow. Don't wait for a specific day to be 'allowed'. Why is it suddenly safer on the 29th than now ?

Fifthtimelucky · 23/03/2021 10:37

Yes, as others have said this is allowed.

My daughter is planning to do it on her boyfriend's 21st birthday at the end of the month. She hasn't seen him since early December so is delighted that the restrictions are being lifted in time to allow her to make the journey (over 160 miles round trip).

Needcoffeecoffeecoffee · 23/03/2021 10:37

@HolmeH thanks so much. I've just got complete tiredness of all the changes and what i should be doing when

Needcoffeecoffeecoffee · 23/03/2021 10:38

And definitely let's hope for sunshine

pommedeterre · 23/03/2021 10:52

Im having my parents in my garden on the 27th, sorry Bozza for the 48 hour slip.
