It's grossly cynical..

Boris is doing his best. He's put a roadmap in place and has to try and make it work and has now been hit by this New York variant which looks like it may scupper everything. He can't seem to catch a break.

Yes they would. It was oh so predictable that just before the anniversary of lockdown and people getting pissed off they’d dream up yet another scare story. They must think our heads button up the back.

I don’t think it’s a conspiracy at all, but I do think the tone of news changes depending on what the government want us to think. Kent variant just before Christmas, and now this just before Easter to stop people mixing too much over Easter weekend?

I didn't say it was a conspiracy. I'm not a conspiracy theorist. I do think that all the focus on the variants to make them sound terrifying is a tactic to keep people scared.

I think he's a knob but I don't think they are inventing things to keep us complacent. I think it's a pandemic.

I understand why people prefer to go down the conspiracy, "we're being played" route though.

It makes no sense why he would. Boris left it to the last possible moment to put any restrictions in place before each of the three lockdowns.

He's a people pleaser. He doesn't want to be delivering bad news.
