Not many people seem to know about this so thought I would start a thread.

You can get free at home test kits for all adults in your household, including support and childcare bubbles, if you have a child at nursery, school or college.

The link is here, it's free and they arrive quickly

there's been a few dozen threads about this already op. But agree it's surprisingly not well publicised. Even our school aren't pushing it.

For asymptomatic people.
Symptoms need pcr as lateral flow miss many positives

Racoonworld · 22/03/2021 14:02

Yes just for asymptomatic, but still useful. I'm planning on using them before seeing any of my older relatives as a precaution.

I know it's been mentioned before but still people don't seem to know about it. I think it's useful as an extra precaution and was very happy when I found out (yes I know not 100% accurate but better than nothing), so thought others might be if they didn't already know.

The communication over this has been appalling, and really shows how important good public health messaging is.

Ds's school Facebook page has been full of parents complaining about having to test their children (...they don't). Plus half of ds's class have symptoms at the moment, and all the parents involved have used lateral flow tests to see if they were positive - school just pass on the government email they have had, which is so convoluted that I dont think people bother reading it.

Fortunately ds is home, but I'm starting dread him going back after Easter if it's as much of a mess then!
