Yes have been doing for 3 months already

Kitcat122 · 22/03/2021 20:24

@Sunflowersandvuttercups well I guess it's OK to asymptomaticily spread it then.

sunflowersandbuttercups · 22/03/2021 20:25

@bonbonours

Who people are so short sighted. "I can't afford to take time off due to a positive asymptomatic result". So you would rather spread it around so more people are off for two weeks? Or what if you catch it and are actually sick for several weeks because someone else didn't want to do testing? Allowing asymptomatic cases to spread will just prolong restrictions.
I'm so fucking sick of comments like this.

If the government don't want asymptomatic cases to spread, then they need to pay every single person in the country to isolate when they test positive. I mean, it would be easy enough to implement such a scheme - if you test positive, you could receive a link to access 10 days of financial support.

As it is, people who are self-employed don't get anything. Not even the pittance of SSP. They get nothing. How do you expect people to live if they don't receive income for days on end?

If you're employed, you at least get sick pay, even if it's SSP. You have the security of knowing your job will still be there when your isolation is over. If you're self-employed, going off sick for 10 days last minute could mean your business goes under.

It's fuck all to do with being short-sighted, and everything to do with making sure you can pay the bills and put food on the table.

Tell the government to pay me for being off sick, and I'll happily take a weekly test.

You're angry at the wrong people. Be angry at a government who doesn't give a fuck about working people enough to pay them to isolate.

If they really wanted to stop the spread, that's what they'd do. Don't be angry at people who just need to pay the bills.

Theelderscrolls · 22/03/2021 20:28

Yes, already doing it.

GeorgeandHarold66 · 22/03/2021 20:31

Yes, already doing it.

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 22/03/2021 20:33

JaceLancs · 22/03/2021 20:37

No way not ever

CosmicComfort · 22/03/2021 20:37

Yes, been doing it for months.

mum2jakie · 22/03/2021 20:38

fluffi · 22/03/2021 20:42

Yes to protect others in workplace and those out of work for sure.

ANewDawnANewDay · 22/03/2021 20:42

Yes

dividedwefall · 22/03/2021 20:49

Has anyone counted the yes vs no on the thread yet?

DipSwimSwoosh · 22/03/2021 20:51

NO

Interesting to see so many no but so many have been happy for teenagers to undergo this.

Rainbowgravy · 22/03/2021 20:55

Yes

AnnaForbes · 22/03/2021 21:13

No.

FreedomFollows · 22/03/2021 21:14

Nope

AColdDuncanGoodhew · 22/03/2021 21:17

No. I have a testing kit (NHS) and have only done a handful of them

CormoranStrike · 22/03/2021 21:17

Yes

tigger1001 · 22/03/2021 21:25

It depends.

I am lucky in that if I needed to self isolate then I can wfh. But oh can't and wouldn't get sick pay.

The lateral flow tests seem to have issues with false positives so would need to have confirmation from my employer that if the lateral flow test was positive but the subsequent covid test was negative, could I return to work, and would my contacts be able to stop self isolating?

It's a good idea in theory, but many people cannot afford to lose wages if they are required to self isolate, especially if it happens a few times.

ArtemisiaGentle · 22/03/2021 21:26

No.

NeedingCoffee · 22/03/2021 21:31

Maybe. Sometimes. But just by making it obligatory I’d be less likely to do it I’m afraid.

AnythingConsidered · 22/03/2021 21:31

Yes.
Gladly

tinkywinkyshandbag · 22/03/2021 21:34

Only if I could do it at home. But I hate to think of all the plastic being used in those throw away lateral flow tests, such a waste

Katie517 · 22/03/2021 21:34

No there is no need, we need to stop treating healthy people as though they are sick! Asymptomatic spread has been debunked several times.
