I've not felt well all week. I have a test arriving today.

This is probably a ridiculous question however do I need to keep the kids off until I get the results?

What do I tell school?
Do I have to home school them? I really don't feel up to that?

We have had tests before but that was at the start where it took days just to book. My husband gets them every week with work and gets the results the same day but works away from us so it's not the same?

I also need to post it back so that will delay it.

Thanks.

Yes, keep the kids off till you get a result. Your school may send work or links to work. If you are unwell, don’t worry.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 21/03/2021 07:55

If you have Covid symptoms and are awaiting test results then yes, your whole household needs to isolate. If you are feeling rough I wouldn't worry about homeschooling, just explain to the school that you aren't well.

Flev · 21/03/2021 07:57

Yes, you and your household need to isolate from now until you get a negative result back or from 10 days after you started symptoms.

The school will be used to this, you let them know your children are isolating whilst a member of your household waits for results. And if you're not up to home schooling then you can't do it, be kind to yourself here.

Is there no way you can get to a drive-in or walk-in site, as this would speed up the process?

Hope you're not feeling too rough.

bobbiester · 21/03/2021 07:57

If this was a test you ordered because you have symptoms, then yes the whole household should be staying home until you get the results.

RevolvingPivot · 21/03/2021 08:00

Thanks. I though so. I've just got the kids used to school again too. Typical.

Yes you need to isolate until your results are in.

We have had many parents who haven't and this can close a class bubble if you don't follow guidelines. I know it's irritating.

However, you are poorly so don't feel pressured to home school.

Hope you feel better soon.

yeOldeTrout · 21/03/2021 09:46

What symptoms do you have, OP?

RevolvingPivot · 21/03/2021 11:21

I'm aching.
Sore throat.
Head ache.
Cough.
Sneezing.
Feel sick.
Hot flushes.
Weird taste in mouth.

Lots of random things to be honest. No temperature.

I've felt strange. Dizzy. Like I'm not really here. Gone to bed at 8.30 the last two nights which isn't like me.

Sorry to hear this. You've got a change in your sense of taste. Please please please make sure the whole family isolates until.you get your test result.

bobbiester · 21/03/2021 11:28

And a cough obviously.

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 21/03/2021 11:32

Yes need to all isolate and should of at first sign of covid symptoms
Shame you can't get to a testing site , had my ds tested last week and results back within 11 hrs

DumplingsAndStew · 21/03/2021 12:40

Yes, your household and any extended 'bubble' you are part of needs to isolate until results come back.

HolmeH · 21/03/2021 13:04

Can you get to a drive through or walk in test centre today OP? Results are back in often 12 hours, sometimes up to 24 but far far quicker than postal tests. If you are negative, your kids could be back in school tomorrow or latest Tuesday. Whereas you’ll be waiting until maybe Thursday with a postal..

There’s masses of availability in testing centres round me at the mo.. I could literally book anytime this afternoon!

RevolvingPivot · 21/03/2021 13:31

I don't drive and husband works away. My mums in my bubble but I thought it would be easier to order it.

BlackeyedSusan · 21/03/2021 14:10

Your mum has to self isolate too.

Mindymomo · 21/03/2021 14:12

My adult son did a home test a couple of weeks ago, he posted it Monday lunchtime and the result (negative) came back Wednesday around 6 pm.

PotteringAlong · 21/03/2021 14:15

Hope it comes back negative ASAP. But yes, you all (including your mum) have to self isolate until you get the results and then obviously continue to isolate for 10 days if it’s positive.

Hope you feel better soon Flowers

RevolvingPivot · 21/03/2021 15:20

Hi. Just gone to do the test. It says to do it the day I post it (on page 6) and the last post is 3pm.

When I last did the test I was told to put it in the fridge and a courier came the day after.

I can't do the test until tomorrow now. I'm so confused. Not thinking clearly as still unwell.

PotteringAlong · 21/03/2021 16:55

Can your mum drive? I would try and book a drive through test if you can. As you all have to isolate together she can take you and the results will be faster.

RevolvingPivot · 21/03/2021 17:33

She drives yes. I wish I had now but the tests have arrived.

Hi received mine and dd1 results at 2pm both negative.

Not had dd2 results yet? That's a minimum of 2 hours in between 😬😬

PotteringAlong · 23/03/2021 19:45

Oh that’s good for the 2 of you!
