Tested positive a couple of days ago, and am in bed oscillating between feeling delicate and awful, depending on how much Paracetamol I have taken. Two days in, I find myself wondering where others who are currently unwell are at, and whether anyone would like a sporadic chat?

kimlo · 20/03/2021 09:08

no, but I'm in self isolation after dd1 tested positive.

YouWereGr8InLittleMenstruators · 20/03/2021 09:32

Oh, your poor DD. How is she doing? I'm worried my DC will get sick, but really hoping they're resilient. They're being absolutely golden at the moment, thank goodness.

XiCi · 20/03/2021 09:36

Hi, yes I have. I'm on day 8 now. Was fully back to normal by day 7. Only felt ropey really on days 3-5. Hang on in there, the worst of it will be over soon.

kimlo · 20/03/2021 09:39

she's quite poorly. Sore throat, cough, breathless, chills and apparently her tounge feels funny.

She's doubled up on her combiation inhaler to 8 puffs a day and she's taking her salbutamol every 4 hours. Hopefully that will keep the worst of the asthma away, a virus always trigger an asthma flare.

Apart from that we are all really bored. There was a bit of a fuss very quickly after the positive result came through with talking to track and trace and letting schools and work know and then nothing. Just days of nothing. Dd says she's finished netflix and I'm on my 3rd book.

YouWereGr8InLittleMenstruators · 20/03/2021 11:15

XiCi, that's given me hope! BiL died of covid last year, only a bit older than me, so I can't help but to feel a bit on edge, likewise rest of the family.
kimlo, "finished Netflix" made me laugh! I recently discovered Audible and I can see myself really coming to appreciate it.

OP posts:
kimlo · 20/03/2021 11:20

I love audible. I need to look through the £3 sale. I shouldn't really because I have so many I haven't listened to yet.

XiCi · 20/03/2021 11:20

Yes OP, I think we all know someone our own age that has suffered badly or died and it makes going through the illness so much harder. That was the worst thing about it, the mental stress and anxiety, which if course makes you feel ten times worse physically. For me though I've had worse colds, worse hangovers and it was nowhere near as bad as having flu, not even close.

Cloudy14 · 20/03/2021 12:54

Hi yes I tested positive a few days ago along with my DD (2) and DH. I can’t quite believe that after a whole year and being so careful we’ve managed to catch it. Sorry to read about your BIL.

I’m on day 5 now and swing between feeling relatively ok to needing to lie down in bed for a bit, but it’s hard to get any rest with a toddler! We’ve all got runny noses, and I feel the worst with a mild cough and occasional tight chest. Sense of smell has gone, I’m off my food, and I keep losing my voice too. Hopefully it’s not going to get much worse but I’m anxious as read it can in the second week.

YouWereGr8InLittleMenstruators · 20/03/2021 13:52

XiCi, I think I was meant to hear your words today; thank you!
Cloudy, oh dear, you are ill with a toddler. I remember it well. Fingers crossed you won't experience a second-week downturn (or any of us!).
Kimlo, I have just finished 46 hours of the Wolf Hall trilogy, so will give the sale a browse when I feel up to it!

OP posts:
XiCi · 20/03/2021 14:03

I'm so glad OP, its hard to find positive stories isnt it. My friend had to pull me out of the mire on about day 5 and I felt so much better after talking with her. Make sure you get enough rest and that you are eating and drinking well. Ive just read a report from a Dr saying to eat as much as possible to help your body overcome the virus and funnily enough I was famished last week. Must have been my body's way of telling me. I also found watching something funny and light really helped. I rewatched Episodes and Grace and Frankie in between eating and naps Smile

kimlo · 20/03/2021 14:18

oh don't say that @XiCi I've been eating everything in sight these last few days. It's the same sort of hunger I've had after a genral anesthetic.

I hope it's just because I'm bored and stressed. It's been better today, but I've also kept myself really busy.

OliveTree75 · 20/03/2021 14:24

I finished my isolation on wednesday after having covid. DP and one of our kids had it too. Other 2 kids either had no symptoms or didn't catch it. Thankfully we have had it super mild. I only lost taste and smell and didn't feel unwell at any point. I watched all 5 series of 'This is us' on amazon prime video during isolation ha! I definitely found the anxiety of whether it would get worse the hardest part. My smell came back yesterday so i headed to home bargains for lovely smelling cleaning products to de-covid the house!! Hope you feel better soon OP.

kimlo · 20/03/2021 15:07

I'm getting a bit worried about dd. Her oxygen has dropped to 97 for 99 so not at really worrying levels yet. She's done not much but sleep today and says she feels worse.

XiCi · 20/03/2021 15:16

What day is she on kimlo? And how old is she? I think 97 is considered pretty normal. I was told under 90 is when to worry.

kimlo · 20/03/2021 15:28

She started with symptoms on monday. She's 17.

It's more the drop thats worrying me than the level. She's asthmatic, asthmatics are known as good compensators, we can maitain good levels until we can't apparently.

XiCi · 20/03/2021 16:27

Ah ok, she'll need a closer eye on her then. If its any consolation I think that was the worst day for me as well, just slept mostly. Then the next day was like someone had flicked the switch back on and felt well again very quickly. I hope she feels better soon

YouWereGr8InLittleMenstruators · 20/03/2021 16:32

This is so reassuring. I can hardly keep my eyes open at the moment, but positive stories of 'not-so-serious' illness is fortifying. It's counterintuitive to eat lots to me at the moment, but told DP I ought to be packing in the calories. He came up 5 minutes later with a plate of reheated cabbage pie Grin Must be more specific...
I'm sorry your DD is feeling worse, Kimlo, I understand it must be extra worrying as she's asthmatic. She's lucky you are able to monitor her so carefully.

OP posts:
XiCi · 20/03/2021 16:35

Cabbage pie Grin. For some reason I was craving tuna pasta. Couldn't get enough of it.

sunshineandshowers21 · 20/03/2021 16:49

my seven year old has it at the moment, we got his result back this morning. i’ve never seen him so ill. he’s burning hot, coughing like crazy, his eyes and nose are streaming, he can barely swallow anything, and his breathing is really heavy. i feel so sorry for him. he’s practically glued to me and keeps crying that he just wishes he could feel better. luckily me, my partner, and eldest son had it back in november so it’s unlikely we’ll get it again. we’re trying to limit contact as much as we can between our son and the two babies but it’s pretty much impossible. i’m just keeping my fingers crossed that my girls manage to avoid it a second time.

YouWereGr8InLittleMenstruators · 20/03/2021 18:47

Sunshine, your poor, poor boy. How upsetting for him, and all of you. I hope he feels brighter soon.

OP posts:
kimlo · 21/03/2021 08:35

dd perked up a bit last night. Still very poorly. I'll see how she is today, she's still asleep but thats usual.

I also found out yesterday I know 2 other totally unrelated people who tested positive on the same day as dd. Thats the most I've ever known at the same time.

XiCi · 21/03/2021 10:07

That's good news Kimlo, hopefully this will be the start of a quick recovery.

XiCi · 21/03/2021 10:08

How are you feeling this morning OP?

YouWereGr8InLittleMenstruators · 21/03/2021 10:41

Good morning, all. Aches subsided a bit, but chest is sore and rattley with thick, rubbery mucous coming up. Grim, but have to think of this as good news? Better out than in. So restless, though. Tried to get up to take some dishes downstairs, but wiped me out. DP has been bugging me, trying to do stuff I would normally be doing (making bread, washing curtains, online ordering etc), which can easily wait (I have told him) but getting stuck and needing help. I've had to say I'm categorically not available to help with or advice on anything. Should be obvious.
Dreamt I was in DC's school playground chatting with teachers during pick-up, having completely forgotten we're supposed to be isolating, thinking "Shit, I've just shut down an entire school!" Woke in a panic.
How are you doing now, XiCi?
Good for your DD to sleep, Kimlo. I think I would be so worried if my DC were sick too.
I hope your house smells amazing, Olive!
I was thinking about your boy, Sunshine. He's the same age as my youngest. So worrying when your DC are sick. I hope he picks up a bit today.

sunshineandshowers21 · 21/03/2021 13:13

thank you. he was up most of the night with a temperature, he was a bit out of it wandering around the bedroom and rambling. he slept very little and was having fever dreams when he did. luckily his temperature has subsided today and he’s been fast asleep since 8am. i’m hoping he’s in the sleep it off phase now. his cough has started to loosen too. it was awful seeing him like that last night, both me and my partner were getting upset and our 13 year slept on our bedroom floor because he was worried about his brother and wanted to be near him. i’m glad you’re starting to feel somewhat better. when i had it i was the same, completely wiped out and sleeping all day. luckily my partner had it very mildly so he did all the parenting that week! it’s just so weird how it affects people so differently.
