How long do you need to have had a temperature?

Sorry, maybe a stupid question. I'm just wondering what the criteria is for getting tested with a temperature? I have a little girl whose temperature has been fluctuating up to 38.2 this morning. She has typical cold symptoms (snotty nose, congested but no cough). I think I'm probably meant to get her tested with this temperature but just seeing if anyone can clarify? It's doesn't say on the NHS website. So I'm assuming its just any temperature about 37.8?

There isn't a specific time length. If she has a temperature then she needs a test.

Thank you, that was my initial thought but just wanted to clarify.

I asked for one after a temp for an hour, turned out to be sinusitis

@Warmsocks001

Thank you, that was my initial thought but just wanted to clarify.
Fingers crossed it's just a cold and it passes soon. Tests seem to be coming back pretty quickly at the minute, so you should have your answer within a day or 2.
