When are new appointments released?

Hello, my DH has just had his invite to be vaccinated 🥳 but on putting out address in to the website, there's no appointments available anywhere nearby, we've searched within a 50 mile radius and nothinf. Calling 119 they said to call the GP, calling the GP they said to just wait for new appointments to be released. Does anyone know what time of day they release the next appointments? DH is really relaxed about it all so isn't likely to check again unless he's prompted!

It probably varies between regions and appointment platforms/organisers but this sounds similar to the system I went through recently. I was told that the appointments being released are random and dependant on vaccine supply which varies from day to day. There was no particular time to target so I logged on between 3-5 times daily. I got a slot (not at my nearest centre) within 3 days of trying and it was for 4 days in advance. Good luck!

Thanks @dianec401 - I imagine cancellations as well will appear randomly, I'll just encourage him to keep trying. He'd be ok to travel but nothing remotely close has appeared currently!

I'd imagine it's totally different for every place and that they put them on when they have them. It wouldn't make sense to me to have all the centres having to wait for a certain time of day when they need to get everyone booked in asap

The booking is a nightmare, I got my first at my local centre (1/2 mile away) but my second was at one 25 miles away. I wanted to change it, but you have to cancel the appointment to try again, so now I have no appointment.

I tried my booking one day, nothing nearby, so I tried at 6 am the next day and got both appointments booked, these were about 7 miles away, but easy to get to. When I booked for my brother, it seemed that different places were offered throughout the day, presumably when they knew they are getting deliveries.

I booked a week ago at a hub and got next Monday, so 2 week wait for appointment, 20 miles away, DH also booked at the same time but manage to get a GP appointment last week so he had his there. DH tried to cancel his hub one online but couldn't so rang up to cancel but the person on the phone couldn't cancel it either.

Some centres have taken a break before starting on second doses. Was the invitation by letter or from gp? If the former he can await the gp one or just keep trying.

Thanks everyone. He went back on and some appointments had appeared so he's getting his first one on Saturday, a 20 minute drive north, and his second one in June, a 30 minute drive south. It felt a little like trying to buy concert tickets (remember those days?!), every time he got through to the confirmation screen one of the two appointments he'd picked had already gone and he had to start again but we got there in the end!
