Just that really, have any figures been released regarding infections in school and college students.

MNers are saying very tiny counts of +s. I haven't seen any official numbers.

GreenBalaclava · 13/03/2021 19:47

I don't know about any official figures, but the two secondary schools near me say they've conducted approx 5000 tests in total without a single positive, so that's encouraging.

notrub · 13/03/2021 19:48

Those that take PCR's will be included in the overall numbers - not sure if LF's are being counted or not.

Either way, it's fairly low probability that anyone could have acquired an infection in school AND tested +ve YET. More important to compare the numbers for the next 2 weeks to this - THAT will tell us if schools are spreading infections or not. Fingers crossed!

Secondary school, 2500 tests so far. No positives. Local population figures are also very low.

Starlightstarbright1 · 13/03/2021 19:49

My Ds's secondary also hadn't had a single positive. ...i also awsre that was just one school.1200 students though

Two year bubbles closed in dc school, one in the school I work at.

We have been very unlucky so far, but completely expected.

According to the Govt Coronavirus dashboard, there have been 6.46m lateral flow tests this school week (8-12th), with 4,266 positives LFTs unconfirmed by PCR (and another 1,023 confirmed).

That's a positivity rate of around 0.08%.

PatriciaHolm · 13/03/2021 19:59

(oh and they are not all going to be schools, but I would imagine the great majority are)

The area I live in has actually a slight rise in cases for the last 7 days so I presumed that it could be due to school testing. The local newspaper reports that’s around 10 students tested positive. It feels about right tbh. Also it was reported that nearly 100% took part in testing and those who didn’t want to be tested at schools received home kits. The part about home testing kits is true. The college students will go back next week do there’s no figures from their testing yet.
