Will lots just say 'stuff it' come the 23rd?

It'll soon be a year since lockdown was first called and me and DH have been watching lots of TV coverage over the last few days. It's just dawned on us this week that we have now not seen our parents for a year, the DC haven't hugged their grandparents, we haven't been for any days out as a family, DC1 hasn't had a single uni class in person. The list goes on.

DH and I are now quickly coming to the conclusion that we just cannot and will not go on living like this any longer as a family. Particularly when there seems to be no end in sight if you listen to people like Chris Whitty and Christina Pagel (who was wanting masks and social distancing for the foreseeable future last night on the news).

Both sets of parents are in their mid 60s and have been vaccinated. We are now strongly minded to visit both at the beginning of April and allow them to see their DGC.

I suspect we will not be alone. Will lots of people simply say 'no more' upon realising they've spent a year of their lives not living?

Thank goodness the whitty worshippers are only here
Rest of us can see the true picture

bringmelaughter · 13/03/2021 10:26

How much experience have you got with Covid @beaniecats? Is it as a researcher, as a clinician or as someone else directly involved with the care of people with Covid?

I’m surprised that you have these views having first hand knowledge and experience of Covid.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 13/03/2021 10:33

But it’s the thinking that Whitty wants to take over the world!😂

He’s the most mild mannered man.

You were told I can't believe no one can see through it
ineedaholidaynow · 13/03/2021 10:35

Thank god for people like Whitty and others who are obsessed with COVID that we now have treatments and vaccines

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 13/03/2021 10:36

I can’t believe you think it’s real. It’s fucking preposterous!

Whitty the world dictator!😂

bringmelaughter · 13/03/2021 10:39

I can’t believe you also know Prof Chris Whitty personally @Beaniecats. Amazing.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 13/03/2021 10:41

In 30 years time History GCSE and A level will include:

‘Whitty’s five steps to power’
‘The rise of the medical dictator’
‘Whitty’s hidden agenda in his quest for world domination’

You couldn’t make it up. It’s like a video game😂

whatswithtodaytoday · 13/03/2021 10:46

I'd rather have Chris Whitty in charge of the country than any of the current lot of politicians 😂 How lovely and safe we would all feel!

Honestly @Beaniecats, I think you're losing it a bit.

backaftera2yearbreak · 13/03/2021 10:47

God if you think Whitty is bad, try having Sturgeon squaking on tv nearing every bloody day.

Beaniecats · 13/03/2021 10:47

I'm hoping with the quiet rebellion from Tory backbenchers he will get reined in
If he doesn't you were warned

Well given my life atm is work from home no outlet, nothing to do and no family allowed to visit...oh, yes, life is great isn't it
PhilCornwall1 · 13/03/2021 10:50

Don't blame you. We've stopped, as have the majority of people we know.

Revengeofthepangolins · 13/03/2021 11:00

@JuneSummer. Out of curiosity, why haven’t you seen your 60 year old patents for a year? Do you of they live in one of those pockets that stayed in lockdown? Because otherwise why did you not see them in the summer?

sleepwouldbenice · 13/03/2021 11:00

@BonnieDundee

Yep, beanie won't have a clue what to prattle on about then......

Perhaps she'll just be getting on with her life.

As long as that's within the terms of her restraining order from whitty. She's obsessed
GerardWay123 · 13/03/2021 11:01

I've already broken the rules numerous times. My Dad was dying so I popped over to hold his hand, kiss him & say I loved him. 2 days later I went over to say goodbye to him. There were 8 of us in the house. How is that wrong when the Dr's, funeral directors etc were legally allowed there. As a family we are still taking it in turns to go and support my Dad's widow.

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 13/03/2021 13:09

@Beaniecats

How will those of you slavishly following the rules in blind faith feel when Whitty decrees those rules must stay in place this year, next year.... Will you be so obedient then?
Again, for the millionth time.

It's not about slavishly following the rules, it's about understanding the science & WHY the 'rules' are necessary. IF people understood the science they'd be less inclined to be mouthy, anti whitty, gobby idiots.

Beaniecats · 13/03/2021 13:34

So you are happy to follow the rules as long as whitty dictates then

Wakeupin2022 · 13/03/2021 13:37

I'm not going to do everything I have done in the last year, every sacrifice made, to say stuff it.

I can't think of anything more stupid

Well off the top of my head, perhaps their parents live in Wales where no household mixing has ever been allowed inside homes, apart from with your extended household. So if your parents in Wales are in an extended household with another relative or friend, you can't visit their home or stay overnight with them.

sleepwouldbenice · 13/03/2021 15:05

@Beaniecats

Well the govt sets the rules based partly on his advice Him being the chief medical officer and, despite your rantings, therefore being responsible for all aspects of public health Otherwise yes

I have a secret theory that @Beaniecats was actually in a relationship with Chris Whitty and he rejected her. You know that friend who professes to hate their ex but just can’t stop bringing up their name in conversation all the time...

Beaniecats · 13/03/2021 15:23

Except he isn't interested in public health. Only covid

ineedaholidaynow · 13/03/2021 15:40

@MrsFezziwig I was thinking that!

PhilCornwall1 · 13/03/2021 16:00

I have a secret theory that @Beaniecats* was actually in a relationship with Chris Whitty

I bet the pillow talk was fascinating 🥱 🥱 💤
