Is this a long COVID symptom or something else?

Hi all

I tested positive for COVID mid January but although I am back to work and fully recovered I am left with the constant feeling of pressure/something stuck in my chest/throat and the feeling of food 'stuck' in my windpipe. All very unpleasant.

I keep thinking this sensation will pass but after a couple of months I realise this isn't getting any better and I am feeling very down about these symptoms (google definitely doesn't help).

I wondered if anyone else has had this after COVID? It is possible COVID has nothing to do with this. I haven't sought medical advice as yet but will ring my GP tomorrow. Thank you.

I think it probably is long covid. A friend had covid at Christmas. Never really got 100% better. Then a few weeks later had the lump in throat sensation and uncomfortable airway etc.

The doctor has given her steroids and an inhaler in case her breathing feels tight

I had something similar, it started easing off this last week, I had covid from 23rd December. I had mild to moderate symptoms, but not much coughing. Coincidentally or not, it started getting better when I started doing yoga with lots of deep breathing.

Long COVID is usually judged to be anything ongoing after 12 weeks, so you dont need to worry just yet.

In terms of symptoms, a lot of people suffer acid reflux as part of COVID and what you are describing sounds a lot like damage caused by that. Try googling GERD and see if your symptoms fit.

I had suspected Covid in March last year .. have Long Covid and the throat symptom started about a month after my first covid symptoms .. it’s still thee even now along with constant throat clearing

Could be anxiety. A feeling of throat blockage as you describe is quite common.

I have had this since last March too! It's been driving me mad. It went for a while and now it's back. I did manage to find something on google that suggested it could be a post viral thing (which would make sense). I was worried it was something sinister. I also suspect I had COVID last year. I'm sorry you're going through this as I know how annoying and worrying it is. I keep meaning to contact my GP too as it's been a year now.
