My 10 year old son has ASD and receives middle rate care DLA. Does this mean we are eligible for group 6 vaccination as unregistered carers?

Yes my sisters son is ASD age 7. She is having the vaccine tomorrow.

Try booking if it doesn't let you. You will have to make sure you are down as a registered carer with your GP.

Try it and see, it only takes a few seconds to input your details

Angel2702 · 05/03/2021 17:49

Yes if you receive Carers allowance you can book online. If not you need to be registered as an unpaid cater with your go on your sons records and your own and GP will arrange vaccination.

EnoughnowIthink · 05/03/2021 17:56

Yes, I had mine on this basis a couple of weeks ago. I am not registered as a carer with my GP.

FortniteBoysMum · 05/03/2021 17:57

The problem is because we both work with we do not receive carers allowance but he receives middle rate dla so if it was not for work we would get carers allowance.

You need to register as a carer with your GP.

RuthW · 05/03/2021 18:00

Yes you are eligible. Please ring your surgery. (It's part of my job)

NoGoodPunsLeft · 05/03/2021 18:08

The Green Book states caters regardless of whether you receive carer's allowance.

There have been a few threads about GPS following different rules so you may need to push for it.

FortniteBoysMum · 05/03/2021 18:10

@RuthW I just called my surgery to be told no ASD does not count.

Push back on this OP, your GP is wrong.

I am in the same situation (ASD child, DLA no CA because of earnings). I registered as a carer with my GP (was just a case of filling in an online form so didn't have to justify myself to a receptionist) and a couple of days ago I booked a vaccine via the online booking service. Until that point I could not do so as they were only allowing those getting carers' allowance to book but all of a sudden (I had been trying most days!) I got through the booking. I assume what happened is the GP surgeries are now feeding in their carers lists to the online system.

Anyhow, if I am eligible so are you and I think it's your GP surgery you need to convince.

Thank you I will be doing so this weekend.
