Pfizer dose 2 side effects?

Hey all,

What side effects did you get from dose 2 of the Pfizer vaccine? Had mine yesterday and woke up today with a headache, light headedness and feeling nauseous. It could just be coincidental but good to know how others felt.

Read something yesterday that this vaccine gives more side effects on 2nd dose

CC2021 · 05/03/2021 11:32

That's interesting @Dolciedolly. I had a slightly sore arm last time but nothing major. Still, if it is vaccine related, it's much better than catching severe Covid Smile

I think like anything, it varies person to person.
It has been suggested side effects may be more for the 2nd dose (just as people who had covid may have reacted more to first dose), but not everyone gets them.
My partner had his on Tuesday and had no side effects.

The side effects you describe are common after vaccines. If you're able to take paracetamol, that should help for the next 24 hours or so.

I’ve had my 2nd dose and felt lethargic and achy for 2 days.

ICUNurse · 05/03/2021 16:58

Posting with interest as I felt really unwell after my first dose and an due my second soon.

ElspethFlashman · 05/03/2021 17:02

2nd dose FLATTENED me.

Pomegranatespompom · 05/03/2021 18:52

@ICUNurse I know people who felt unwell with 1st but fine with 2nd - so difficult to predict.

raviolidreaming · 05/03/2021 19:49

I was unwell the day after my first dose, but had nothing except a sore arm after my second. A pharmacist told me this is to be expected after a strong immune response first time, as your body recognises it the second time.

I had my 1st Pfizer on Friday morning, I had a pretty tender arm around injection site(similar to DOMS)from around 2-3 hrs afterwards, until today(Sunday) it’s barely noticeable now. I also woke on Saturday morning really nauseous, this went on until around 1pm, seems to have subsided now. I’ve also felt slightly more tired and slept way longer than my normal the last couple of nights.

The injection itself is completely painless, it’s a micro-needle and I felt the weight of the injectors hand hitting me and not even a pin prick.

Overall, it’s been a painless exercise!

I've had both Pfizer doses and nothing but a slightly tender arm either time

Motorina · 02/05/2021 19:24

Dose 1 knocked me out for 36 hours. Dose 2 I felt cold, shivery and limp for maybe 3 or 4 hours. I was expecting much worse and it was fine.

Had 2 Pfizer jabs
1st one made me very tired and a headache, arm felt like I had a baseball bat hit it
2nd wasn't as bad tired again and a headache, arm just obvious that something , a bit achy

Whatever9999 · 02/05/2021 21:29

1st jab : sore arm, complete exhaustion 24hrs later that lasted about 6hrs

2nd jab : bloody sore arm (still sore 4 days later, but as I also bruised I think that was more down to technique and the fact I have a connective tissue disorder), not quite as bad exhaustion for a couple of hours around 27hrs after).

A friend however was completely floored by her 2nd jab with severe flu like symptoms for around 5 days

Vivana · 03/05/2021 00:15

I had my second and had no bad side effects at all. My first was worse as felt I had flu

Adarajames · 03/05/2021 00:30

Anecdotally Pfizer is worse for side effects on number 2, AZ worse after jab 1.
I had a barely bruised arm after Pfizer 1, after jab 2 I was fine until the evening of the day after, then I felt like had flu for next 3 days, but woke feeling fine again on 4th day afterwards. All far nicer than getting covid I’m certain (having had swine flu in the past, I know I wouldn’t enjoy covid and probably wouldn’t get off with a mild version either!)
