Last Day of Remote Learning - Celebrate with Me

manicinsomniac · 05/03/2021 08:21

Woohoo! It's so nearly over. I have 7 lessons today, including my hardest one of the week, plus a zoom meeting and my first ever dreaded LF test but I don't even care. I'm too excited! Goodbye online learning! GrinGrinGrin

Anybody want to celebrate? What will you be doing? I have virtual medals for my younger classes (my older classes would roll their eyes too hard!) and some Games to play. Tonight I have a cake and party games for my own children. Even the 18 year old will be forced to join in! Wink (there's a chance I may be more childishly excited than all 3 of them!)

It feels a bit like the end of lockdown to me. I know it's both and everything else is still shit but it's a ray of hope and the return to a semblance of a life.

Anyone else excited? Roll on Monday!

  • last paragraph should say 'I know it's not', not 'I know it's both'.

DonLewis · 05/03/2021 08:29

It's a teacher training day here... GrinWink

ZenNudist · 05/03/2021 08:32

Until the bubbles burst...

DialsMavis · 05/03/2021 08:33

We are having take away pizza tonight to celebrate/congratulate ourselves

manicinsomniac · 05/03/2021 08:33

Ooh, I might struggle a bit harder to be excited about that DonLewis but I'd give it a good go! Wink

Enjoy your Mcdonalads, justanotherneigh Smile

We’re a week back to school (ROI) and dear god it’s been bliss. Grin

Let the celebrations commence.

I’m b you little ray of sunshine 😍😍😍
justanotherneighinparadise · 05/03/2021 08:45

*oh you

Hoppinggreen · 05/03/2021 08:45

I see everyone celebrating on FB etc, I’m not too bothered as mine are old enough to just get on with it but I am glad for DS in particular as he needs the social contact.
Hate to burst bubbles but if things get bad again the schools could close.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 05/03/2021 08:47

WOOOOOOO-HOOOOOOOOO!!!

TheKeatingFive · 05/03/2021 08:47

Until the bubbles burst

Possibility of homeschooling versus certainty of homeschooling.

It’s not even a contest 🤷‍♀️

justanotherneighinparadise · 05/03/2021 08:48

I can handle anything if the kids are at school 🤭

MrsKeats · 05/03/2021 08:48

Not me I work for an online school and LOVE it

Hugbear · 05/03/2021 08:49

Absolutely over the moon here. Went shopping and bought cakes and chocolates to celebrate.💃

icantthinkofanamehelp · 05/03/2021 08:53

Haha
Didn't take long for the negativity to start.

🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 05/03/2021 08:54

Thank god! DD(7) is fine at the beginning of homeschooling but she has turned into a stroppy diva by the end of each one. Sending her back to school gives me back my sweet, calm DD. I can’t wait!

It also means I’m going back to maternity leave with my 5mo. Poor thing has been doing the Y2 home learning with her big sister. The only downside is we were able to bubble with my DParents but when DD is back at school, we won’t because of the risk of passing the virus on to them.

manicinsomniac · 05/03/2021 08:57

Enjoy all your celebrations.

MrsKeats - this is fascinating to me? Have you always taught online or did you start off in the classroom? What subject do you teach and what makes you prefer it? I find it so hard to connect to the children ( and these are children I already know well and have mostly taught for years) and impossible to get meaningful teaching done. Also can't find any enthusiasm. But I teach Drama, Dance and Musical Theatre. I suppose I could probably teach academic subjects more successfully.

😭😭😭 We've got three more days to do next week, mine aren't in till Thursday!

MrsKeats · 05/03/2021 09:41

Hi manic
No I've taught in mainstream for years before this-sixth form college and schools.
I started full time online before the pandemic but obviously we have been inundated with new pupils over the last year.
I teach English so it's much easier than your subject to do online I would imagine.
We have students that are not in a bricks and mortar school for loads of reasons
SEN
moved abroad but want to keep with the British curriculum
Anxiety etc
Have jobs-we have actors/models/ sports people

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 05/03/2021 09:48

I've been so grumpy this week as well, I bet they'll be glad to see the back of me too. Just can't be arsed with it anymore!

MrsKeats · 05/03/2021 09:56

Oh I prefer it for many reasons
No behaviour issues
No ofsted
Small classes max 18 currently
No germs!
Hardly any rubbish/pointless admin

MarshaBradyo · 05/03/2021 09:57

Good stuff

Might do dc favourite food by deliveroo this wknd

Theimpossiblegirl · 05/03/2021 10:00

The bubbles might well burst but it won't be as the children, all of the time. Even a few weeks in school can make such a difference to children, they are lonely.
We're not out if the woods yet, but with everything the way it is now, it's the right time, even if it's not guaranteed.

Theimpossiblegirl · 05/03/2021 10:01
