Just what the title says...

Oh just to add, google says PM pledged all adults will be vaccinated by July. I'm not rushing, just curious, as I don't want to travel without the vaccine

I think June time but depends how the rollout goes.

My OH got his the other day though I've not been called yet and nor has his mother who is nearly 60 and lives down the road. Very random, no health conditions at all!

Ifailed · 05/03/2021 06:24

Johnson said all adults will be vaccinated by July, so that's July 31st. What he didn't say was whether that was just the first dose or both, given his history, I'd imagine it will only be first one, so you won't be covered.
Add 3 weeks on for the vaccine to be effective, That takes you to 22nd August at the earliest.

Useruseruserusee · 05/03/2021 06:39

I work with PHE in my local area and they are saying May or early June for people in their 30s. I can’t wait!

RealisticSketch · 05/03/2021 06:46

DH and I are mid-40's and just had vaccination invitation, we have no health conditions. So that's pretty quick! I was surprised. 30's can't be far behind.

FakeFruitShoot · 05/03/2021 06:51

@Minnie888 his mum can book herself here if she's over 60

I suspect around June-July.

If you're thinking of travelling abroad consider that some countries might state the requirement to have had both doses in order to travel. Which could take you to October.

LemonTT · 05/03/2021 07:36

There will be a big difference between when all adults get it and when all adults are offered it. This will be driven by demand. Not everyone will respond to the first offer, or even the second and third. The NHS know this and whilst they will keep trying they won’t hold up the queue at big vaccination sites. Otherwise they sit idle. They will use other approaches for the hesitant.

They are now opening age bands at faster rates and once “at risk” have been offered they will speed up, supply allowing.

It’s hard not see under 50’s being offered in April and that 20’s and 30’s will be offered in May.

And before anyone asks I have factored in 2 doses being done at the same time. But these are supplied separately and done by GP and hospitals. The big vaccination sites and pharmacies will have enormous capacity and with supply are going to move fast.

@Ifailed actually you already get some cover after the first dose. There has been a lot of data on that. After the first dose ( 3 weeks after ) the vaccines are extremely effective at preventing death/ hospitalisation. Yes - BOTH vaccines. I believe the figure was 80 percent protection against death after 3 weeks.

Data on vaccine protection after first dose... I think you actually get the majority of the protection after first dose and second dose acts as a booster.

nordica · 05/03/2021 08:06

A lot of my friends in their 30s have got their invitations through their GP recently and they didn't know they are considered clinically vulnerable. Most got invited due to their high BMI most likely.

I'm hoping to get invited by May, that's what the vaccine calculator online currently estimates for my age.

zzzebra · 05/03/2021 08:11

Cyprus have confirmed its both vaccines required for test and quarantine free travel.

I'm aware of this, however to be fully vaccinated both the the manufacturers & the government state it's after two doses, and I suspect most countries will insist on that - I know I'd expect the UK government to do so for people coming here from elsewhere.

newstart1234 · 05/03/2021 15:49

The jansson vaccine will be only one shot for a full course so that’s going to have to be factored in surely? No one will want the jansson one if you still can’t travel with it.

Eu countries are approving travelling with vaccines and request full doses but I assume this is because current vaccines are 2 doses a a once the janseen one is approved by Ema then they’ll accept it for travelling as 1 dose

In case anyone hasn’t seen it over 55s can now book online as per a thread

ExcusesAndAccusations · 05/03/2021 15:54

We should be into the fortysomethings by the end of this month. I’d say that if you’re keen and willing to travel to a big centre and book yourself in as soon as your age group is eligible then you’ll get your first jab in May. Maybe early May.

ExcusesAndAccusations · 05/03/2021 15:55

I think it’s only 58 and 59 year olds who can book themselves in as per today, not the whole of the 55-59 age band, and those appointments are for 1-2 weeks time, but it’s still good news.

I’m thinking the same. Let’s see how 2nd doses affect but if we do double numbers as it’s been said then we can do 2nd and 1st doses so 30s easily late April - may
BobsDouble · 05/03/2021 15:56

My understanding as a participant in the Janssen trial is that two shots will be given in this country. One shot will be in countries where it is logistically difficult to give two.
Certainly on the trial two doses, 8 weeks apart, are being given.

I guess as they were testing they wanted to see the effect but it’s a single dose in the Uk www.google.co.uk/amp/s/mobile.reuters.com/article/amp/idUSKCN2AR0P1

I’ve done that calculator, I’m in my 40s and it says July :(
