I had the AZ jab yesterday. I have aches and a stiff neck / headache, feel a bit queasy. Jab site feels a bit bruised. Still in bed as not working today. But I will get up soon. Headache is worst part not gone away even after paracetamol.

I am in mid 40s have Bronchiectasis, not tested positive for Covid in last year, had a few tests as I am prone to chest infections.

Very glad I had the vaccine though. Kids back at school in a few days. I really didn't want to risk getting Covid, it wouldn't kill me but I can't risk further lung damage.

Impatiens · 05/03/2021 08:41

@Wherediditgo

This is the only thing putting me off getting the jab tbh. All these stories about how ill everyone has been afterwards! I am mid 30s with no health conditions so not expecting it anytime soon though.
I'd heard a lot about side effects before I had it, it wouldn't have put me off - it's a minor nuisance compared to actually getting CV or, much worse, passing it on to someone vulnerable.
3rdwave · 05/03/2021 08:44

I hope we all feel better soon.
I had 2nd Pfizer yesterday afternoon. Restless night, sore arm and I feel a bit ropey this morning but, to be fair, that might just be because I didn't sleep.
Happy to have had it!

Lovelydaybut · 05/03/2021 08:45

Yeah
I’m very happy to have had it.

@Purplewithred

I had about half a day feeling rubbish, absolutely fine before and after.

Reported on Zoe app, scored a test.

Tested positive.

Omg!! I have a concern about catching it from the pharmacy where I had it tbh But I’m good at health anxiety - it’s a hobby

Nearly everyone is better within 2- 3 days.

SvenandSven · 05/03/2021 09:56

I am early 40's had AZ on Tuesday mid morning. By 7ish that night was cold and shivery. Took paracetamol then went feverish and bad headache. Hardly slept Tuesday night.
Wednesday was tired and dull headache. Took it easy in the morning kept fluids up. Was feeling much better in the afternoon after a great sleep. Only a sore arm which is now easing nicely.
Well worth the short lived feeling unwell though.

MaudesMum · 05/03/2021 09:56

Had first jab on Monday first thing, had flu-ey symptoms from late Monday and all day Tuesday, felt absolutely fine from Wednesday morning onwards. I'm 60 and obese, and am 99% sure I haven't had Covid. In a weird way I didn't mind the symptoms, as it showed there was something in my body creating antibodies!

Papyrus · 05/03/2021 10:00

I had it at the beginning of the week. Arm was quite sore for 48 hours and I had a headache and a mild fever the first day, also felt tired and just generally a bit “hungover”. Feel fine now.

Dita73 · 05/03/2021 16:11

How is everyone today? My fever eased off at about 4 this morning and I’ve been ok since. Arm aches a bit but that’s it. I was terrified of having the vaccine. Terrible vomiting and illness phobias but I’m glad I had it done. Hope everyone’s ok

IsadoraMoon · 05/03/2021 16:42

I have had Covid and had AZ, felt really crap for 12 hours and then mildly crap for just under a week (headaches and fatigue) it lingered on and zapped my energy just like Covid itself, but glad to have it done all the same!

FenceSplinters · 05/03/2021 16:51

Oh no, I’m so worried now! I have my vaccine booked for Wednesday, when school fully opens up - I’m a teacher. I wish I could have had it before now in case I feel ill 😫

VashtaNerada · 06/03/2021 07:24

Hopefully you’ll be okay @FenceSplinters - not everyone reacts to it and even if you do you may be able to power through. I managed to rearrange my classroom and wander round the school carrying resources, and a colleague of mine taught keyworker children all day - even though both of us felt decidedly ropey. Just make sure your line manager knows you’ve got your vaccine and tell them you’ve heard it can have side effects. Plan for a (very!) early night on the day of the vaccine and the day after. It’s definitely worth it!

fightingSmiths · 06/03/2021 07:28

had AZ yest. absolutely fine apart from sore arm (and I am not elderly).

simbobs · 06/03/2021 07:41

I've got mine booked for next week and am primed to feel a bit off afterwards. These threads are meant for a bit of support but I am concerned that they may be actively putting some people off getting vaccinated, which is certainly not the intention. Presumably those who have had few side effects aren't contributing? If people are worried after reading, please remember why we are all putting ourselves through this. There are many people for whom it is too late to worry about feeling rough for a couple of days.

FuzzyPuffling · 06/03/2021 07:43

I had AZ and was properly bill for 3 days ( fever, couldn't stay awake etc) but it then appeared to set off a lupus flare, so two weeks later I'm only just beginning to feel human, and that's if I really pace myself.

Still very glad I had it done.

FuzzyPuffling · 06/03/2021 07:44

Ill not bill. No idea who he is. ( Gates!?)

Literallynoidea · 06/03/2021 07:56

I felt tired the day after and that was it.

I had the Astra Zeneca one and I'm in my 40s.

jmh740 · 06/03/2021 08:11

I had mine at 4pm Tuesday AZ. I had a bad headache and was achy all over phoned in sick and just slept it off on Wednesday. I still felt a bit achy and headache Thursday but was well enough for work. My arm is still a bit tender. I had covid in October.

Willyoujustbequiet · 06/03/2021 08:56

Had the oxford one Thursday evening. First just had a sore arm but by 24 hours had a fever, shivers and everything ached. No sickness.

I've had flu before - not as bad as that but pretty rough. I'm in my 40s and never had covid.

Would still get it again in a heartbeat. Just book a day off the next day.

Greenandcabbagelooking · 06/03/2021 09:00

My parents (late 70s) felt ill for about a day, but we’re fine with paracetamol and lots of water.

Please don’t let side effects put anyone off. A day or two of feeling ill is surely better than days or weeks with covid.

ISBN111 · 06/03/2021 09:28

I think they tend to underplay the responses people have to vaccines in order to support uptake, but then the flipside is that people don’t expect the reaction to be so bad, which can be worrying for people.
If the health authorities and pharma companies don’t deal honestly with reactions, especially long term ones, this is where people stop trusting them and pre-covid, these stories online fuelled anti-vax.

FenceSplinters · 06/03/2021 11:20

Thanks @VashtaNerada - that’s good advice.

Abraxan · 06/03/2021 11:24

Dh's colleague (40s but his surgery is way ahead) felt ill for most of the day after. Ill enough to mean he struggled to work (from home) and ended up going to bed. He isn't normally one for taking time off ill.

He was perfectly fine the following day.

PinkTonic · 06/03/2021 12:51

A lot of the stories are proliferating for the specific purpose of putting you off. How many people have been vaccinated now and how many stories of deaths and hospitalisation have you heard?
