Underarm swelling after vaccine???

Wellbythebloodyhell · 04/03/2021 18:12

I had the AZ vaccine a week ago. The underarm (armpit top of boob area) of the vaccinated arm is swollen and tender to touch, a visible difference to the other armpit. I cant feel any lumps or masses underneath but I'm getting myself paranoid it could be something sinister rather than a side effect of the vaccine or something else simple.
Anyone else had this??

I read something about this, wish I'd saved the link, but it shows in mammograms. Obviously benign once tested. Will look for a link.

Could it be an immune response, causing the gland you have there to swell up?

Tryingtryingandtrying · 04/03/2021 18:17

Apparently nothing to worry about... www.healthline.com/health-news/covid-19-vaccine-can-cause-false-positives-on-breast-cancer-mammograms
Quite highly reported though. Definitely a source of stress though.

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 04/03/2021 18:17

It's your lymph nodes swelling. An immune response to the vaccine. Nothing to worry about.

Mine started hurting day 10 and had stopped by day 14.

Just your immune system kicking in.

That's interesting. I had COVID recently and my armpits were very sore and achey. I couldn't find it as a symptom so just put it down to swollen glands.

Moirarose2021 · 04/03/2021 18:18

I'm aware of this happening with the pzifer one, you can report side effects via yellow card

Musicaltheatremum · 04/03/2021 18:19

I had a sore axilla after my 2nd Pfizer. It will be your lymph nodes responding. It's not a bad thing.

Thank you, you have put my mind at rest.

Please do report on the yellow card system. It might help people unnecessarily going through mammograms etc if they know its a recognised and common side effect.

Martinisarebetterdirty · 04/03/2021 18:55

There is an article in the Daily Mail about this today, perfectly normal response.

How do I do this? Never heard of the yellow card system

Yes! This is me! I am 7 days post jab and was wondering why under arm/left of boob was so achey and swollen. Now I know!

Fruitteatime · 04/03/2021 19:22

My underarms and breast get like this every month before my period? As it's cyclical do I need to worry about a mammogram? Sorry op no help as haven't had the vaccine but thought it was a similar situation except it's usually both sides. Does sound like it's from the vaccine for you if it's only that side.

@Wellbythebloodyhell here - add your batch number from your card if you can, it really helps
