Second jab - do I wait to be called?

I had my first vaccination a couple of weeks ago. OH has now been told he can book both his jabs online at the same time. Does the system know I have had my first so I can go online and book my second, or do I wait to be contacted?

With the online system you have to book both jabs simultaneous so I suspect if you did those the online system for your first jab you won't be able to for your second.

Don't take that as authoritative though.

GP will contact me for 2nd, apparently.

It's weird because different places seem to be doing it differently in the same area. I was given mine in the 15 minute wait after my first jab. My workmate got hers when she booked and my dad hasn't been given his yet. It's confusing.

OK thanks. I went to a completely different place to the choices DH has been given and I didn't book it in the same way so I'll wait.

Central booking system you book both jabs at once

GPs round here invite you to book the 2nd jab separately once you are due.

I had mine at the local hospital and was given the date for my second when I arrived for my first.

My parents were done at a vaccination centre and they have been told they will be contacted about their second appointment.

The national booking system (large vaccination centres and pharmacies) books both appointments automatically. It was designed that way before the 12 week changes.

GP hubs don’t use this system and don’t routinely book second dose because they use a call system. You will be invited to book your second dose nearer the time.

Hospital hubs also use their own system and these tend to book second dose.

All have their various pros and cons.

I used the NHS booking system and got both appointments at the same time, every else I know has been to the GP's surgery and has been told they will be contacted for the 2nd jab.

My BIL was phoned today, to go tomorrow for his 2nd pfizer jab.
