Quick question for teachers.

I’m asking for a friend.
If you are a teacher and received an ecv shielding letter what are your options if you show them to your work? Are you able to work from home? Or do they furlough you?
Anyone have any experience of this?
Thanks in advance.

I have a colleague who had a shielding letter and she has been wfh. I can't imagine my school would do anything else. I think she has now had the vaccine and I don't know if that changes her status, probably not, but I know she's desperate to get back.

Schools can’t claim through the furlough scheme is they are funded by the government

wonderstuff · 01/03/2021 22:21

The can if they're private. I know of schools that furloughed teachers in the first lockdown.

ECV colleague at my school teaches from home. LSA in the class (when kids were on site) and she is on screen.

This schools an academy. Don’t know if that makes a difference

An ECV teacher I know of is remote teaching their class from home whilst a TA, and possibly a student teacher as well, is in class supervising the children. This happened during lockdown 2 and will also continue for rest of this term once all children are back.

Yes, I am wfh and teaching via a zoom with a TA in classroom.

WFH

If the academy receives its money from the government then no it can’t claim furlough for its teachers. If it’s a privately funded school eg parents pay then it can. Most academies still receive their funding from the government so won’t be able to claiM
