Logically today we are not allowed to sit on our garden with a friend
And in a few months we can stand in a field with thousands of people
Do we think it's worth buying tickets at all?

mollypuss1 · 28/02/2021 12:34

Yes

HairyFloppins · 28/02/2021 12:35

My dd and her friends have tickets for Leeds. They are fully prepared they might not be going but nice to have something to look forward too.

Fantasmic143 · 28/02/2021 12:36

We have bought our son a ticket for Reading in the desperate hope it goes ahead. He is in his first year at university and has had such a rubbish time. I just want him to have something to look forward to so figure it has to be worth a shot.

Howshouldibehave · 28/02/2021 12:38

I find it very difficult believe that we won’t be ok to go into people’s houses for weeks, but huge gatherings of thousands shortly after will be fine.

I don’t have any tickets to go anywhere though so it doesn’t affect me either way!

I will obviously be thrilled to bits if we are back as normal in the summer-not being negative at all, just cautious.

RoseWineTime · 28/02/2021 12:39

Yes DD17 has a ticket for Reading!

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 28/02/2021 12:40

Depends on the policy for what happens if it's cancelled. If you get you money back why wouldn't you buy a ticket if you can afford to now?

GreyBow · 28/02/2021 12:42

Didn't buy Leeds Reading tickets as I don't think it will be safe. At all.

verybusyknitter · 28/02/2021 12:42

I've still got my ticket for Greenbelt 2020 and hope very much to be using it this year. Its scheduled for August Bank Holiday, so all being well it will happen.

Mycatismadeofstringcheese · 28/02/2021 12:43

I’m sure the people of Reading and Leeds can’t wait for 200,000 unvaccinated teenagers to descend on their towns.

What can possibly go wrong?

ronswansonstache · 28/02/2021 12:47

Festivals are great fun but also massively unhygienic. It's not the mass gathering that worries me as much as the poor washing facilities for 3/4 days and then everyone going back home to their respective towns and cities. It feels too soon for me.

TankGirl97 · 28/02/2021 12:48

I have Beautiful Days tickets which rolled over from last year. I'm hoping that with a combination of vaccine certificates and proof of a negative test, it will be able to go ahead. The organisers haven't announced one way or another yet, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

FunnyInjury · 28/02/2021 12:49

I'm not a teenager and I've booked day tickets!
Also wont be descending anywhere as I dont live far from the site.
If its cancelled, so be it 🤷‍♀️ but its 6 months away yet so I'm optimistic 😊

ChameleonClara · 28/02/2021 12:51

I feel we are headed for a mad summer, and then another crappy winter Sad

Government modelling has cases rising from September, certainly these festivals should help it along.

They'll have had their first vaccination by then - those festivals are end August. Besides, everyone in Leeds and Reading will also have been vax wd!
RJnomore1 · 28/02/2021 12:57

I really don’t think they will happen ☹️

We have TRNSMT tickets from last year and I’d usually do leeds to but I didn’t buy them as I’ve had so many gigs cancelled I’m fed up being let down tbh.

Delatron · 28/02/2021 12:59

I think if the road map happens then it really was a case of all restrictions (I think)) dropped by 21st June.

This is because by then most adults will be vaccinated and protected. At that stage we move to living with the virus at low levels. So it shouldn’t matter if huge amounts of people are gathering.

Some of them get mildly ill? Most over 18s will have been vaccinated?

Since Covid has a strong element of seasonality, it would be amazing if cases didn't rise from September. However, since the vast majority of adults should be vaccinated by then, it's unlikely to lead to a large rise in hospitalisations.

Do you want to stay in lockdown indefinitely?

MGMidget · 28/02/2021 13:16

ChameleonClara, where did you see the government modelling on cases rising from September? I am interested to see that and keep track of their predictions and others might be too. I would have predicted that myself but it all seems to be tidily being swept away at the moment. I'm trying to make decisions for next winter on what to do regarding my DD's education! The Government's roadmap conveniently ends in the summer....

catherineofarrogance80 · 28/02/2021 13:17

I really want to go to boardmasters but there are no tickets anyway

OP posts:
wasgoingmadinthecountry · 28/02/2021 13:19

Dd and her friends have tickets for Reading. As others have said, they know it's not a definite right now but at 17 it's something to look forward to.

Her school trip to Central America in July? I'm thinking it's a probable no but unless the company cancel we're not fully insured.

I teach and am quite negative about the whole thing really - worried that rates will increase when schools go back fully - but would love to be proved wrong!

MGMidget · 28/02/2021 13:21

And PS, huge amounts of unvaccinated people gathering and partial vaccination of the population may equal plenty of opportunity for new variants, including vaccine resistant ones. That's what I am worried about anyway...

IcedPurple · 28/02/2021 13:24

Why would there be 'huge' numbers of unvaccinated adults by late summer?
ChameleonClara · 28/02/2021 13:24

Oh how very witty!!

Yes, yes I want to stay in lockdown forever Hmm

icantthinkofanamehelp · 28/02/2021 13:25

I think people are in for a shock that our lives will get back to some kind of normal
We cant have restrictions for ever.
We can't all indefinitely avoid this virus.
It was never about stopping people getting it and keeping people ' safe '
It was about stopping the NHS collapsing

We also can't restrict forever because of the risk of variants
