Unsure if to test

Hi All,

Looking for some advice please.

I've been feeling a bit 'off' since Thurs/Fri. Got a sore throat which seems to just be there, not getting any worse, plus a bit of nasal congestion/ runny nose and a headache. I felt incredibly hot on Friday so took temp and it was 37.7 but only for a short while and suffering a bit of breathlessness/faster heart rate but no cough.

I don't feel like I've got Covid as such, so I'm not rushing to test but know that the 'big three' don't always present themselves. Just wondered if anyone else would try to get a test in this case?

Thanks

I would given that you felt hot and unwell even for such a short period of time. It would do no harm anyway and best case it’ll stop you spreading to others.

Given that, right now, there's not an issue with testing capacity, then I would say if in doubt, better to get a test.

It was a bit different in the autumn when there weren't enough tests to go round.

Do the test with those symptoms. If you can get to a drive-through centre, then the results are usually back quickly. I've had to get two tests for members of my household in the last few weeks and the results came back the same day.

It's worth taking a test, even without the cough. Better to try and stamp out every potential chain of infection. You'll be helping get that curve down.
I hope you feel better soon.

If you use the Zoe Covid app it will sometimes recommend you have a test even if you don't have one of the main 3 symptoms and when you book there's a box to say you're booking because the app told you to. I logged that I had an upset stomach and wasn't eating alongside feel generally unwell a couple of weeks ago and it advised me to be tested - came back negative. Maybe log your symptoms on the app and see what it says? Hope you feel better soon 😊

Test. Adult dd's symptoms were a sore throat and a mild runny nose. She was positive.

Thank you all Smile I think it will be sensible to get a test. Nose dripping like like tap now and feel like I have a weird film in my mouth although taste / smell doesn't seem to have altered.

I would test.

I’ve never had covid so wouldn’t rule it out based on not feeling like I had it - how would I know?! There have been a lot of anecdotes of people only experiencing fleeting symptoms (including a slight cough for a day or so) but getting positive tests. I suspect that a lot of ‘asymptomatic’ cases actually had very fleeting, very mild symptoms that could be explained away.
