Fever after vaccine

TingTastic · 27/02/2021 21:43

I have my vaccine tomorrow and it looks like a fever if a relatively common side effect

What are the rules re testing / isolating with a post vaccine fever? Would the whole family have to isolate (meaning DH couldn’t go to work) while I got a test?

Thanks

Individuals with post-immunisation fever
This group should isolate and arrange to have a test if symptoms persist for longer than two days.

Further detail:

The Green book states that vaccinated individuals should be advised that the COVID-19 vaccine may cause a mild fever which usually resolves within 48 hours. This is a common, expected reaction and isolation is not required unless COVID-19 is suspected for other reasons.
PHE Guidance on what to expect after your COVID-19 vaccination advises that if the vaccine recipient has any other COVID-19 symptoms or their fever lasts longer than two days they should stay at home and arrange to have a test.

I had a fever but it only lasted a few hours. If it had gone on longer I would have isolated and got tested.

Yellow card any side effects

In terms of anticipated fever, nope it's. not, a high fever, is not a usual side effect, not sufficient for Covid flag. Get your thermometer ready if you are expecting it. . A little bit warm and punchy arm is usually , feeling a bit crap for a couple of days.. the rest you need to report if you experience anything else

I was told that any fever after 48 hours might be covid and to have a test but before that likely to be vaccine snd not to test/isolate.
