No test no school

There is an article in the guardian today about parents not allowing their children to have the rapid flow test in order to re open the secondary schools.

What's your thoughts

Should it be

No test no school
Or
allowed in anyway

Unless a significant proportion of the children (accept there will be some with SEN who are genuinely going to struggle with it) take the test, I can't see that it's worth bothering with them as there will potentially be so many infected children in school anyway. So I guess I'd be in favour of no test no school at least for this term so we can see how it pans out(especially as online options are being provided for shielding children so it's possible to continue to learning remotely).
My suspicion is that a lot of students are going to decide they can't be bothered to take the test if it's not compulsory.

Umpteen threads on this already.

Not going to happen. NO vaccines or tests are mandatory to go to school already, before corona every other thread was about parents letting their kids go to school with communicable diseases like chickenpox, influenza, unvaccinated entirely.

Get over it.

Ha ha. I don't care either way my kids went to school through the height of the pandemic
I'm just curious as to other parents views.

My kids will get the vaccine when it becomes available to kids and I'm getting it next week.
Then I know we are getting the most protection we can as a family. If others want to risk not being protected then that's their choice. I do believe travel will be restricted to those not vaccinated however but again that's up to those concerned.

Anyway threads not really about the vaccine so I'll stop.

The tests however are about trying to protect others in school. It's the best we have good right now other than completely re designing our schools. Not going to happen 🙅‍♀️

I think the government saying secondary school children WILL have tests and MUST wear masks one day and then saying, ‘Oh, we didn’t mean they HAD to-they can say no if they can’t be arsed!’ the next, is ridiculous.

If loads of them don’t bother to do any of the few safety precautions available to people in massively crowded inside environments then viruses will spread at speed again, just like before Christmas.

Nor are compulsory testing. Not going to happen. Get over it.

Head at secondary school DC1 teaches at has emailed all parents and 90% have responded saying they are happy for their DC's to be tested. First set of tests will be done on the Thurs/Fri before they all go back.
