Conspiracy theorists & the damage they do

I had my vaccine today - Pfizer.

Yesterday, I did the worst thing imaginable and jumped down the online rabbit hole.

I have spent the last year rolling my eyes at every anti vaxxer and yet now I am sat at home analysing every single bodily sensation, expecting to drop dead at any minute. Or, if that doesn’t happen, convincing myself I’ll get diagnosed with an incurable disease 5 years down the line.

There is no evidence to suggest this could happen. There is plenty of discussion as to why this is highly unlikely to happen. But there is way more conspiracy theory jargon & washed up medics voicing their “concerns” than any of that.

It took a lot of emotional strength to fight my anxieties and go ahead with the vaccine today, but I can see why someone with a little bit less fear of Covid and a little more interest in conspiracy theories might not have made it.

It should be a crime to post online about them.

Hope you're doing OK OP Flowers
Yes, deniers, refusers and conspiracy theorists are dangerous, in multiple ways. I can see how vulnerable people are taken in. I'm hoping such opinions will dwindle, as more and more people are vaccinated, and they see all is well. Well done for performing your civic duty by getting vaccinated...

OP I couldn't agree more. I had a very bad episode of panic after I had my vaccine. For two- three days I couldn't breathe properly because of all the crap I had read and videos I had seen. ( all were sent to me etc, I didn't go out looking ). It took a lot for me to go and have the vaccine. You're absolutely right, was I not as terrified of covid, I probably wouldn't have gone to get it.
