Apologies in advance as i know this has been posted but i am a very anxious person and was hoping for reassurance,I'm a carer for two children, this is registered with the gp, they had no appointments but said to book through 119 so I did and have my appointment Sunday, I don't get carers allowance as I earn just over the threshold, I am now very anxious that I will get turned away. I have proof of dla for them and some appointment letters with there diagnose. Has anyone gone to a mass vaccination centre and been ok? Thank you

I went to a mass centre. No problem for anyone who was booked in as you clearly are. Some people had letters but many did not and as long as their name was on the list there was no problem. I sort of overheard a conversation and I think the person did not have an appointment but they still vaccinated him

Thank you, the gp said I was flagged as a carer but every thing I've read today says people keep getting turned away which does my anxiety no favours.

@Emilyellen1995 refer them to the letter below which makes it clear you don’t need any further proof other than being registered as a carer with your GP.

I went yesterday and no questions were asked.

I'm a carer for my child I'm due mine tomorrow, i hope I'm not turned away. I filled the online form in and have a booking number. I will bring my childs dla letter with me if needs be. It's very unfair if we are told we are getting the vaccine and then turned away. I'm my child's only parent so it's important i have it

Emilyellen1995 · 25/02/2021 20:34

Thank you everyone, it's very worrying. I was told two weeks ago I was eligible as a nursery nurse only for it to be back tracked just before I booked, my worst fears is jumping the queue

I think if it was done with GP involvement it should be fine. I think the people being turned away have often ticked the wrong box and booked through main site as frontline worker rather than unpaid carer.

Emilyellen1995 · 25/02/2021 20:51

When I called my gp they said I am a carer on there system and they only reason they couldn't book me in as they'd run out of appointments/ jabs.
She said I have it on my file that I am a carer. Fingers crossed.

I had mine last week, they checked my name and date of birth but not the reason I was getting the jab (I am 34). You will be fine.

Emilyellen1995 · 25/02/2021 20:53

I'm hoping as I'm flagged as a carer it will be on my nhs number in some way

I'm a carer and I booked for my jab in Jan never heard nothing back my boss was asking questions so I rang the vaccine number and got a nice lady to try and find me she rang back with in the hour and asked my to go along to the vaccine center I had no appointment or proof I was a carer gave them my name and had the jab I'm sure you will be ok when you turn up ..

Emilyellen1995 · 26/02/2021 07:27

Thank you for your feedback, I feel more reassured. Some places seem to be turning people away, I'll post back Sunday how I get on.

Stand your ground if anyone questions you, you are entitled to the vaccine as a carer. I'm a vaccinator at a large central London Trust, we don't interrogate people we just accept that if someone is there that they are eligible. The only times people have been sent away is when they try to sneak in for a second dose of the vaccine 3 weeks later, by lying about having had their first.

HildegardNightingale · 26/02/2021 08:47

I’m a hcp at a vac centre. If you have an appointment you won’t be turned away. In fact yesterday I added 4 people to my list who had come with people (they were their carers

Emilyellen1995 · 26/02/2021 09:58

Thank you both for responding. I will take the paper work I have with the children's DLA and upcoming appointments/diagnosis letters
