Group 6 vaccine.

For some reason this group seems to invite all sort of comment and controversy.

So thread to explain groups 1-6 and place for those in group 6 to rant about the idiots who think it's some kind of queue jumping group!

Firstly groups 1-4 were those most likely to be affected by severe disease and or death.

The over 70's, those CEV and frontline health and social care workers.

To be in this group you have to be extremely vulnerable to the virus. Hardly something anyone aspires to be!

Group 6. Over 65's. This group is higher risk but not as high as groups 1-4.

Group 6 is all those 16-64 who are clinically vulnerable. The JCVI have done the maths and a 16yo with underlying conditions on a specific list is statistically more vulnerable than someone 64.

So group 6 isn't some kind of lucky group who get their jab early over the 50yo etc. They are a group of people of whom have life limiting physical and or mental and or medical conditions.

They are more at risk.

We have come so far and the future looks so much more positive than it did as we came into the new year. We have vaccinated about 30% of our entire population (currently only vaccinating all over 18's and 16/17 CV) so we are doing well. Let's not start turning on each other in a race to get vaccinated and ruin the atmosphere and positivity.

Let's certainly not start making insensitive comments about 20/30/40yo being 'lucky' to be getting the jab.

Let's remember all those 'healthy' carers often give up 18 years of their life minimum and they don't get careers etc and yet at 18yo their child's money you get for that support stops (CB,CTC etc) and you have no career, often still have caring responsibilities and income drops.

Let's remember these people themselves are often now returning to college or schools as pupils to staff despite continued risk. Many will be public sector workers and still in supermarkets etc providing a service to us so we continue to access decent quality food.
They'll also work as transport workers, delivery drivers, factory workers etc.

This isn't a race or a time to judge others. This is a time to continue to stick to the rules whilst we get everyone vaccinated in an orderly queue so we can all get our lives back.

Clearly the OP typed 6 twice instead of 5 , 6.

But it’s good to see you live up to your username 😜

Cranky it was a typo and should have said 5.

If that's all you took from the OP that says more about you than me Hmm
