DD 7 has a bright red bum cheeks, Covid?

My DD has bright red bum cheeks which have just appeared this evening. Really odd, looks like bad sunburn, red hot skin. She is absolutely fine in herself. Thought it might be the bath or sitting on her hot water bottle but an hour later it's still red. Could this be a weird covid symptom?

She attends school as a key worker child and has been there this week

HAS she been sitting on a hot water bottle....?

keepingmindful · 24/02/2021 21:00

Don’t think so as it’s still red

No.

Lots of non-covid rashy causes for a red bum.

napody · 24/02/2021 21:01

OK... well if she has slightly burnt it on a hot water bottle or hot bath then it might well still be red, surely?

MRex · 24/02/2021 21:01

Is it perhaps ringworm? Probably best to put sudocrem or something else soothing on for tonight (wash your hands very carefully after) and see a GP tomorrow.

MRex · 24/02/2021 21:02

(Obviously only see the GP if it's still red, not if it was just the hot water bottle.)

Has he been sliding down the stairs?

keepingmindful · 24/02/2021 21:05

It’s very weird, the bath water was luke warm at most, and just checked it after she has been out of bath for 2 hours and still red and hot. Will put some cream on it and check at bedtime, thanks everyone xx

When my eldest had slap cheek he had the rash on his bum and arms too. That looked like sunburn

icantthinkofanamehelp · 24/02/2021 21:23

Oh ffs.
Not everything is bloody covid.
I've never heard of a red bum being a sign.

Covid is literally one of many infectious things in this country.

Keep your wig on, I can’t think 😉
Just weird to have a kid with a bright red bum out of the blue with no obvious cause!

Does he identify as a baboon? Grin

Bluntness100 · 24/02/2021 23:14

Um if this is serious, I’m really not sure why you’d think it was a respiratory virus. Call the non emergency line and get advice.

Confused

When my ds had hand, foot and mouth, he also had a rash on his bum. Check the other areas too.
