PIL want to us to go on vacation with them to Spain for first two weeks of August. They are offering to pay; we would only need to pay for our expenses and COVID tests. Extremely generous and kind of them, but I feel really torn.

They are 70+ and will be vaccinated. Me and DP are under 50 with young kids. So at most DP and I will have had one vaccination. Kids are too young to wear masks in the airport or plane. I’m debating whether I will have vaccine yet as I’m still breast feeding (MIL disapproves of BF, and would not hesitate to tell me to stop so I can have the vaccine).

If there was even the slightest risk of ending up in hotel quarantine I would not go on the holiday and their money would be wasted, DP agrees. Personally I doubt we’ll be allowed to go anyway so the money would be wasted, I’ve told DP to check they realise flying on hols is unlikely, but it’s their money to waste and they insist everything will be fine.

Should I let them book the holiday even though I’m anxious about them wasting their money and also anxious about travelling? Am I being selfish if I say no? Kids and DP would love the holiday. We can’t afford to book UK holiday ourselves and PIL refused to do a UK Holiday when we suggested it.

As an aside, it's over 5 in Scotland for anyone planning on heading up here!

To go for a walk or to the beach?

To go for a walk or to the beach?

No, but anywhere indoors. Admittedly, nowhere near as strict but still worthy of consideration.

Coffeeandcocopops · 24/02/2021 12:28

Just don’t go. Your H says it’s not possible this year.

Frazzled2207 · 24/02/2021 14:18

Very difficult to know what the situation will be in august but could well be very different and I’m sure countries like Spain will be keen to have us. I’ve booked (rescheduled from last year). We have moved over accomodation and flights from last year to this year and can move over again if we need to. But if it’s impossible we will have a choice of money back or move to next year. Most airlines and travel companies are similar. So I’m fairly relaxed about it at the moment though both dh and I expect to have at least one vaccine by May which helps.

Can anyone help me with the current requirements for covid testing ( 1x traveller not vaccinated, 1x fully vaccinated but only 6 days since 2nd jab, 1x traveller fully vaccinated) driving from UK (Eurotunnel) through France and final destination Spain. We are just driving through France with 1 night stop over. What tests do we need to get from UK to france and do we need more tests to get from France to Spain? Many thanks in advance.

You need to start a new thread, you've posted on an old one. Sorry I don't know the answers to your questions.

Eurotunnel website is quite clear:
www.eurotunnel.com/uk/travelling-with-us/latest/covid-19/#foca
France has a COVID pass system and you need to check what documents you need for the unvaccinated to stay in the accommodation you have booked.

Gotmagoat · 27/09/2021 09:55

Rhabk yiu for tour reply. The unknown requirementa is whwn we cross rhe French Spanish border. I cant find this information anywhere.

catndogslife · 27/09/2021 11:06

This may be the document you need below:
www.interieur.gouv.fr/Actualites/L-actu-du-Ministere/Certificate-of-international-travel
If you are not fully vaccinated and over 12 years old you need to take an antigen test on arrival and quarantine for 7 days in government approved accommodation. Then take another test after the 7 days.

cherin · 27/09/2021 11:26

Check this Eu portal: reopen.europa.eu/en you can create the itinerary France/Spain and it should tell you…
