Will it mean no masks? No social distancing etc?

OP posts:

Well that's hard to say, because each stage will be assessed to see whether we can proceed to the next one, so we will just have to wait and see what happens.

JanFebAnyMonth · 23/02/2021 13:21

They're doing a separate study into social distancing measures so we won't know til that's published what will happen with masks etc (heard in R4 this morning).

covetingthepreciousthings · 23/02/2021 19:13

I've been wondering what this means for work places - as in, when will their Covid risk assessments carry on until - isolating when a contact or with symptoms etc. Or do we think more workplaces will introduce lateral flow tests to test staff weekly?

OooErrThor · 23/02/2021 19:24

Summer solstice so we can all dance around naked!

On a serious note, Matt Hancock did say on BBC Breakfast this morning that he would hope that mask wearer would become common place on buses etc. I guess in Japan and Korea etc masks are always worn and second nature, I think the powers that be hope that happens here too.

MrsMercedes · 23/02/2021 19:25

i don't think we will even get that far!!

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 23/02/2021 19:26

I would like to know too. I don't think they can be sure exactly what it means yet. Not the details anyway.

AfternoonToffee · 23/02/2021 19:32

It means my nephew can plan a fantastic 18th birthday party.

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 23/02/2021 19:35

It means i can have a jolly old knees up for my Summer birthday after a miserable winter pregnant on my own!!!

Incogweeto · 23/02/2021 19:41

Agreed. Let's think about it if/when we get there.
TheGriffle · 23/02/2021 19:44

I just want to know when I can hug my parents and my nan.

HarrietSchulenberg · 23/02/2021 19:46

It's a nice little carrot to dangle to cheer us all up (and stem the rising tide of discontent). It's a bit like "jam tomorrow" to keep everyone going, and if it happens to work out right then everyone has to pat Boris on the back for a job well done. If it doesn't work out, well the jammy carrot will be dangled for a month later, and a month later etc.

MrsMercedes · 23/02/2021 20:33

2 of my neighbours met up with friends today, the neighbour opposite had her friend in the house and a i saw next door out with her mate when i was walking the dog!........i think people are jumping the gun now. thinking its ok to do it all now.

realise thats just a snapshot from my day (i'm on 'holiday' this week)

littlequestion · 24/02/2021 17:38

If nightclubs can open then, surely social distancing will end?

StylishMummy · 24/02/2021 18:05

I've noticed a marked uptick in groups out on walks etc. Good on them I say! Outside the risk is tiny so why not

Heatherjayne1972 · 24/02/2021 19:09

Mmm. Lots of noise on fb WhatsApp etc talking about how ‘we can go to the pub’ and ‘it’s all over’ on 22nd June
If it doesn’t all go to plan the government are going to have an impossible job to control people who think they can ‘do what they like now’

I wish he hadn’t given a specific date

peak2021 · 24/02/2021 19:46

It will not be the end of face coverings I would expect.

I think Matt Hancock’s delusional if he thinks that. We do it as the price of going into shops, nobody will if it’s optional.
