Vaccine Alergic Reaction Question

WhatsTheEffingPoint · 22/02/2021 22:14

Has anyone who has received any of the vaccines had an allergic reaction to it ? If so what happened?

I am asmathic and do suffer from allergies (eggs being my main one, however I am aware the vaccines do not contain egg, unlike the flu jab). I also had a period of time where my face would spontaneously swell up, I had some tests but never got to the bottom of why it was happening and then it stopped happening.

I'm just trying to weigh up what I should do as and when I get offered the jab. I will try to speak to my Dr's surgery but it's a nightmare trying to get through to them at the moment.

I think, from what I've read, they ask you about allergies and allergic reactions when you book your appointment and again when you go for the jab and try to give you the one least likely to cause you problems.

No personal experience of allergies after vaccine. But I'm a vaccinator and we've successfully jabbed many many folk this last month or two almost exclusively with the Pfizer jag. I've not seen a single case of an immediate allergy.
However our policy is that if you carry an epipen, have had a significant allergy in the past that has rendered you in hospital, or/and you take regular antihistamines for something such as a drug, chemical etc, or have contact dermatitis, we would offer you the AstraZeneca one instead.

Thank you both for your replies.

I don't have an epipen but I carry antihistamines with me, they don't always stop the reaction but I carry them with me just in case.

Not having had childhood vacs or flu jabs I've never had to think about anything like this before. I was going down the not having it route but if its possibly going to affect being able to travel etc then I feel I should have it as that is something I want to be able to do.
