Children's indoor supervised activities?

ILookAtTheFloor · 22/02/2021 16:30

I've scoured all the info and I can't find anything about when dance, gymnastics, trampolining or whatever can restart for children?

Gyms April but only households

Indoor classes for adults in May.

Nothing about under 18s? 8th March is just school clubs right?

I want to know this too. My best guess is 29th March under formally organised sport?

From bbc news: Stay at home rule removed on 29 March
From 29 March, outdoor sports facilities such as tennis or basketball courts and open air swimming pools can reopen and formally organised sports can restart.

AlexaShutUp · 22/02/2021 16:37

I'd like to know when children's dance classes can re-open too.

ILookAtTheFloor · 22/02/2021 16:46

I'm still none the wiser! It's really not clear. 8th March sounds like formal childcare only, and school clubs but not explicitly other indoor children's activities.

Didn't he say he was looking at them starting the same time as schools?

I thought that too for a minute, but then he caveated it with for the purpose of parents working eg. After school childcare clubs?

I'm sure I read children's indoor activities were 12th April - unless for childcare reasons, then its with schools.

FishWithoutABike · 22/02/2021 16:48

I’m desperate for gymnastic to start again. My daughter misses it so much. Some of the girls have lost their chance to complete at the top levels because of lockdown. Such a shame.

Do you have a link please?

I'm desperate to reopen my karate club!

LucyMaxwellDM · 22/02/2021 16:49

It just says exercise class from may 17th. Many dance/gym/trampolining groups also teach over 18s . I am scrutinising all the info as it comes out. We are hoping for April 12th but it looks unlikely at the moment.

UselessTrees · 22/02/2021 16:50

Pretty sure it'll be April 12th, looking at the Roadmap document, here:
www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-response-spring-2021

Benhew · 22/02/2021 16:51

ILookAtTheFloor · 22/02/2021 16:55

Thank you! So it is 12th April. Straight after Easter hols.

Can cope with that.

Great, thank you!

NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy · 22/02/2021 17:07

I wonder if it's 12th April for Brownies and Scouts too?

LucyMaxwellDM · 22/02/2021 17:11

Still socially distanced/COVID secure on the 12th April though xx

LucyMaxwellDM · 22/02/2021 17:11

I’ve highlighted here

Children's indoor supervised activities?
LucyMaxwellDM · 22/02/2021 17:12

@NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy yes, ALL children’s activities xx

Buttybach · 22/02/2021 17:17

My daughter is the same with gymnastics and dance it seems extremely unlikely to happen any time soon in wales

EmotionallyEncumbered · 22/02/2021 17:42

This is from the BBC, not entirely clear what it means still though, it's the last line I'm looking at:

All pupils - in all years - can return to being taught face-to-face in schools and colleges.

Mr Johnson told MPs the return would be supported by twice-weekly Covid testing of secondary school and college pupils. This will initially be on-site and then carried out at home by parents or carers.

Clubs for children in school buildings - both before and after normal school hours - will also be allowed to resume from 8 March.

Other children's activities - such as sport - can also restart.

I work in the sector. Outdoor sporty ones 29th
March. Indoor ones mid April.
Some could start at schools 8/3 but I think these will be limited to class bubbles only so won’t amount to much.

itsgettingwierd · 22/02/2021 18:37

Thanks for link above.

It's actually comprehensive and quite impressed with this government.

A written plan which covers what why and how before an announcement

And yes all kids indoor sport from 12th April.

Ds has written on his calendar - swimming opens. The best day of my year life Grin
