Overnight stays?

Not looking too hopeful on the overnight stay front.

Probably have to say goodbye to our camping trip over Easter bank holiday and our long weekend in May in a holiday cottage doesn't look too hot right now.

RIP my sanity.

We have an Easter break and May half term break booked. Wasn't expecting to go to be honest. I moved them both from last year, I might just ask for a refund as I'm fed up of moving stuff and I'm running out of annual leave!

Sunny360 · 22/02/2021 15:50

Think it was just announced 12th April for overnight stays with your own household is allowed

User7538943 · 22/02/2021 15:51

I thought I heard 12 April also, we have a caravan trip booked on the13th April so hope so

NatMoz · 22/02/2021 15:56

Oh I really hope 12th April would be splendid.

Would have to rearrange our camping trip but not the end of the world.

He announced a date for hotels and B&Bs to reopen (12 April?)

IsabelleSE19 · 22/02/2021 16:00

Does that mean 12th April is also the end of the 'stay local' advice? Desperate to see family living in different counties.

Heatheronthehill · 22/02/2021 16:04

Are premier inn hotels open for non essential bookings from the 12th? I have a room booked on 15th April with someone in my bubble?

Vanillaradio · 22/02/2021 16:05

Our holiday was booked from 3rd to 10th AprilSad had already assumed we wouldn't be going. No way we are going to get second week of Easter holiday off work now so will cancel. Still, May half term sounds like a plan!

Waxonwaxoff0 · 22/02/2021 16:06

We were going to Butlins, I don't know if that will be open under the guidance.

29 March is the end of Stay at Home
peak2021 · 22/02/2021 16:07

Stay at say your parents from mid-April, but not in a hotel.

Brokenrecord3006 · 22/02/2021 16:13

It says on the BBC that self contained accommodation will re-open from earliest 12th April for stays with your own household.

Hotels and B&Bs from earliest 17th May. It also says mixing of different households would be allowed indoors from the same date.

IsabelleSE19 · 22/02/2021 16:17

Thanks Red, but aren't Stay at Home and Stay Local two different restrictions?

NatMoz · 22/02/2021 16:24

I wonder what camping in a tent falls under?

Shahira78 · 22/02/2021 16:24

It had better be, April 12th is my birthday! June 21st is my husbands. Really hoping all this is true!!

Brokenrecord3006 · 22/02/2021 16:30

@NatMoz I imagine the issue with camping is the shared facilities. But I'm sure that was technically not allowed last summer and yet campsites all opened with no issues.

MummaPI · 22/02/2021 16:47

What, so self catering holidays can start after the Easter holidays? That's low Boris.

ammary · 22/02/2021 16:51

It's very unclear.
We are booked to go away for a week on 9th April moved from same time last year) -So can we go for less days from 12th?!
What difference would it make to let people go away in UK from start of Easter hols? 🙁

Manteo · 22/02/2021 16:54

Yes when can we stay overnight with family who don't live nearby? What I've read is a bit vague on that.

Exactly, so everyone who wanted to use the Easter Bank Holidays as part of a break is screwed, as are the businesses that would have benefitted. FGS!

PuzzledObserver · 22/02/2021 17:03

I think overnight with family will be the same as indoor mixing and hotels, i.e. 17th May. That’s only England, though - my mum is in Wales, and I can’t see any announcements from them.

Vanillaradio · 22/02/2021 17:05

In our area Easter Holidays start Good Friday and last till 16th April. Dh and I have to book annual leave in school hols 12 months in advance. So because we booked the first week as leave we can't go on holiday and nothing will be open, had we booked the second week off things would be entirely different. Slightly pissed off!

Whatafool123 · 22/02/2021 17:09

Mmm, I see outdoor swimming pools will be open from 29 March. That should be fun if you have a wetsuit, and mid-May for the cinema, not that there will be any new films to go to! What a life, and how on earth are these businesses (not just cinemas, but hospitality generally) going to survive?

Have they forgotten we have a vaccine now?

We are in a similar situation in that DH now needs to take his remaining leave (18 days) by 31 March. He has been working from home during the pandemic. Not sure what we will do with everything shut.
