I know this thread will just be speculation but just curious as to what people think about when large ish weddings will ever be allowed to go ahead as normal? I'm thinking 50+ people without social distancing. I have a friend who was meant to get married last summer and it's been moved to this summer and I'm not hopeful for her and feel so bad for her. But there never seems to be any engagement by politicians with when large events will return. So just wondering what you psychics think Wink ?

Waiting to hear too! My daughter's wedding is booked for the end of May - when we booked it, 30 were allowed which is reasonable - then it went down to 15, then 6, then no weddings allowed at all!

It's just so difficult trying to make plans with the uncertainty.. so we haven't made any, other than the registrar and venue booking and it's going to be a mad scramble when we do hear.

We've cancelled out wedding 4 times now. Originally was meant to be May 2020.
I doubt there will be any changes to weddings with a max of 15 until the Autumn and then I suspect it will gradually be eased with more guests allowed and staff etc.
I would guess that summer 2022 would look more normal with say 50 guests.
Weddings are not a necessity and it will be one of the last things to be eased.
We are not even going to consider booking a wedding until everything is back to normal so this will be at least another 18 months

'Weddings' may not be necessary but I've long been concerned that the right to enter a marriage, which is at its core a fundamental legal contact that brings considerable legal advantages, has been denied...

Hmm what? Confused

Hi all, just wanted to say the Guardian covid feed says that Johnson said that weddings and large events may be able to resume from 21st June including without social distancing. Perhaps we won't need to wait as long as expected!

Racoonworld · 22/02/2021 18:01

Yes roadmap shows no restrictions for weddings from 21st June.

Hi,
Any ideas for something old, new, borrowed, blue? Really stuck for something unique or unusual? But any suggestions would be really appreciated. Thank you x

The right to enter a marriage was restored last July I think.....

Agreed. But it was only suspended for a few months last year.

OP. We can hope for next summer.

But it's not happening this year.

Or if it does it will be a brief window of the government pretending all is well.

The Prime Minister not waiting for June 21st himself is probably indicative though.
