Key worker vaccines

If you’re a key worker that’s eligible for a vaccine as a priority due to your job, did your employer arrange it or did you get it from your GP?

I got a vaccine in Jan through my work

Northernsoullover · 20/02/2021 23:04

My employer arranged it.

Employer

Every keyworker that has had the jab I know got it through work

MonkeyPuddle · 20/02/2021 23:07

Employer.
It’s an occupational health issue if you’re a key worker, GPS are not usually contracted to provide occupational health services.

MrsLurkalotagain · 20/02/2021 23:08

Yep. Through work.

Doublechins · 20/02/2021 23:10

Through work

Jackie2022 · 20/02/2021 23:12

Thanks all. That’s what I thought as all my NHS friends got their vaccine through work.

Was just confused by a post on another thread stating that people are apparently jumping the queue at their GP surgery due to their job. Didn’t sound right

I work in a GP surgery, we bounce all occupational health vaccines back to the employer unless the patient fits into one of the other brackets and can have it for that reason as well.

whatisthislifesofullofcare · 20/02/2021 23:20

My regulatory body has referred us to govt/NHS guidance that confirms we, as frontline (face to face) mental health professionals can have our vaccine as priority till 28/2. Many of us are sole practitioners or agency workers so have no employer to arrange it, hence the guidance that we must only produce confirmation of our membership plus id.

lorisparkle · 20/02/2021 23:32

Our local authority sent a website link to my employer who then emailed all staff. We then booked through the website but had to prove that we were entitled when we got the vaccine (using ID badge, wage slip and ID, etc)

It would appear some gps are encouraging teachers or another profession to be on the reserve list when they have no-shows. But this isn’t official policy just what gps so.

I don’t know think gps generally know what jobs we have.

My NHS mental health team have done a mix

  • some of us vaccinated at GP hub as 'end of the day/late notice'
  • some told to email their GP with evidence of being nhs staff and were then offered vaccines there happily
  • some could book at large vaccine centre
  • now the Trust itself has vaccine supplies and is vaccinating mental health inpatients and remaining staff

Employer. There were specific vaccine sessions for us set up at the hospital.

Frazzled2207 · 21/02/2021 09:16

@ScrapThatThen
Pleased to hear that although it’s a bit complex they appear by be pulling out the stops to make sure everyone gets their jab

TravellingSpoon · 21/02/2021 09:16

My employer arranged it ( Local Authority).

britnay · 21/02/2021 10:45

I work in a pharmacy. The local surgery just rang us up one day and asked who would like to come in that day and the next day. Still waiting for word on the second vaccine though :S
