I was called up for group 6, with severe asthma, have had hospital admissions in the past which is criteria. Booked jab got to the GP to have jab to be told I’ve been called too early and they’re not giving me the jab.

I think unless you have a BMI over 40 then no you won’t be called in group 6 for mild asthma. Asthmatics have been screwed over again.

Two people I know are in group 6 and just had their jabs due to asthma. Both have been hospitalised in the past with it which I believe qualified them into group 6. If the person has been hospitalised or takes steroid tablets to manage their asthma, they should fall into group 6.

As for being overweight, is their BMI over 40 and the GP aware?

I did that Qcovid calculator - my score went down when I entered I had asthma. Sorry mild asthma won't include him unless his doctor decides to.

My mum's 58 year old mildly asthmatic partner has been given a vaccination appointment on Wednesday. He's never been hospitalised and not take steroids often. It unfortunately seems a bit of a lottery whether asthmatics are included by GPs, they can use thier clinical judgement to add people who don't exactly meet the criteria if they deem it necessary.

My 42 year old brother has been called for his vaccine. He has mild asthma and has never been on a nebuliser. I am 45 and my asthma is much worse than his. I haven’t been called.

Potentially yes. Although asthma may be grp 9.

Racoonworld · 21/02/2021 10:01

Mild asthma no. Overweight depends how overweight, if his bmi is over 40 then yes, if under then no.

morninglive · 21/02/2021 10:47

No. And no to the GP showing pity on him.

Mild asthma no. Overweight (not morbidly obese) no.
