Ethical question BMI

My area has just started vaccinating group 6.

3 weeks ago my BMI was 40 so I was eligible to book in. Today it isn’t 🤦‍♀️.

If I can get an appointment at very short notice- say within an hour- should I take it on the basis that it's likely to be a wasted appt otherwise? Several centres near me have appointments available this evening, for example.

I doubt it’s dropped much below 40 so you are still high risk. Take the vaccine!

LaurieFairyCake · 19/02/2021 13:59

Yes you should Thanks

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 19/02/2021 14:01

Yes of course.

One "bad" weekend, a dominoes and a bottle of wine and you're back over 40.

AlexaShutUp · 19/02/2021 14:02

Yes, take it.

TooManyPlatesInMotion · 19/02/2021 14:06

Yes, do it.

needadvice54321 · 19/02/2021 14:07

alliejay81 · 19/02/2021 14:07

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 19/02/2021 14:07

Definitely take it.

rosie39forever · 19/02/2021 14:10

Well done and take the vaccine.

picklemewalnuts · 19/02/2021 14:11

I've lost two stone, and have another 6 to lose. A whole extra person, I've been carrying.

BaggoMcoys · 19/02/2021 14:12

Congratulations for losing some weight. I think you should definitely take the vaccine still.

FancySomeChips · 19/02/2021 14:12

Ooo congrats!
Take the vaccine.

How did you lose the weight?

BaggoMcoys · 19/02/2021 14:13

Wow op cross posted with you there. 2 stone is brilliant! Still take the vaccine but very well done to you!

PuzzledObserver · 19/02/2021 14:22

It’s not as though the risk is zero at BMI 39.9 and 100% at 40.0, is it? They just have to draw a line somewhere.

Take the vaccine

picklemewalnuts · 19/02/2021 14:23

Slimming world and orlistat, fancy. I suspect having the proper amount of thyroxine helped, too.

I really didn't expect it to work- I've dieted before. This time, however, it seems to have taken- I'm actually finding life less stressful in lockdown- lots of things that I got stressed about don't happen!

Also, bread seems to be disastrous for me. Which I now accept. I miss it, though!

OP posts:
RedBrickChimney · 19/02/2021 14:29

Go and get it!

FascinatingCarrot · 19/02/2021 14:57

Of course!

FancySomeChips · 19/02/2021 16:15

I’m addicted to bread
It’s always my downfall
(Currently have a loaf being magicked up in the bread maker)

Well done!
